Now that the Debt Ceiling has been raised and both parties have agreed to some form of compromise.....we can begin to learn what they did and didn't do. It will take time to sort out all the details but it appears that the wealthy and corporuptions are once again protected. The raising of additional revenue through tax increases appears to be off the table. I'll repeat it one more time. GENERAL ELECTRIC PAID NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES IN 2010.
There will be cuts in the Military Budget but how much is still to be determined.
In 2010 the military budget was $685 BILLION. That does not include the cost of operating two military events in Iraq and Afghanistan. That separate expenditure cost $171 BILLION in 2010.
The estimate of the two war fronts since 2001 is $1,291 TRILLION.
The question being put forth by those who support American Wyatt Earp operations around the globe is......
WHO DO YOU WANT POLICING THE PLANET OTHER THAN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?
The answer from the opposite side of the fence is.....
AREN'T THERE ENOUGH CONSCIENTIOUS COUNTRIES ON THE PLANET TO SHARE THAT INTENSE RESPONSIBILITY?
I realize that conscientious countries might be a vague term but if you apply freedom, logic, compassion, harmony, charity and wealth than you can easily name multiple players that fall under the heading of possessing a higher level of conscientiousness. Obviously there are some countries that have wealth but appear to be lacking in the other categories.
What WE seem to be doing with our current budget fiasco is attacking the less fortunate...which goes against the grain of why we are one of the good guys.
WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT 12 MILLION PEOPLE ARE STARVING IN REFUGE CAMPS IN SOMALIA AND NOBODY SEEMS INTERESTED, THEN YOU START TO QUESTION THE BASIC MORAL FIBER OF ALL COUNTRIES.
Why can't we drop sacks of grain and rice right in the middle of those camps? Why can't we deliver millions of bottles of water to those camps?
WHY CAN'T MASSIVE LARGE CORPORATIONS PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAX?
WHY CAN'T PENSIONS BE CONSTRUCTED SENSIBLY?
WHY CAN'T PROSPEROUS COUNTRIES SHARE IN THE COST OF FIGHTING TERRORISM?
HOW DO POLITICANS MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHILE IN PUBLIC OFFICE?
WHY CAN'T WELFARE FRAUD BE CONTROLLED?
WHY CAN'T OIL RICH DESERT COUNTRIES DO GREAT THINGS FOR HUMANITY INSTEAD OF JUST BUILDING RIDICULOUS TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND BUYING RACE HORSES.
There are so many questions to be asked and so many not to be answered, and if I were to make a wild guess I would think all the current Budget Bullshit is simply a ploy by two similar political parties to take our focus off the target.
THE REAL TARGET THAT IS PREVENTING AN ECONOMIC RECOVERY FROM TAKING PLACE......
HOW DO YOU REPLACE MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE SECTOR JOBS THAT HAVE SHIPPED TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN ORDER TO REDUCE EXPENDITURES AND INCREASE PROFITS?
It's like a slight of hand card trick and nobody seems to have an answer on how it's suppose to work.
In the meantime....The Global Community (and that means everyone) needs to focus on 12 million starving and dying people in Africa....and they need to focus
TODAY!
A REAL TIME EFFORT TO HELP REPAIR A PLANET THAT SEEMS TO HAVE LOST IT'S WAY ON THE ROAD TO THE NEXT HIGHER STAGE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION. (it will happen with or without you and me but it's nice to be involved in the process don't you think?)
BUT INSTEAD WE HAVE BUDGET BULLSHIT TO DIVERT OUR FOCUS!
JUST TAKE A SMALL PORTION OF THAT MILITARY BUDGET AND SEND RICE, GRAN AND WATER TO AFRICA...AND THEN USE OUR WYATT EARP GLOBAL MENTALITY TO MAKE OTHER WEALTHY COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE IN THE ENDEAVOR.
EVERYONE WILL FEEL BETTER!
TODAY WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO START
NOW
WOULD BE
EVEN
BETTER!

2012 Olympics are just one year away
The 2012 London Olympic time table............ begins now.
The United States swim team with Michael, Ryan and Missy just won 16 Gold Medals at the World Championships in Shanghai.
The interesting side note is that Michael Phelps wasn't the ultimate star of the meet....that belonged to Ryan Lochte. What it probably did is make Michael want to prove one last time that he is the greatest swimmer of all time. It's not like he didn't win a bunch of medals but he didn't break any world records, which is going to be harder since the magical swim suit ban went into affect a few months ago.
Ryan could do what Michael did three years ago but he will have to go through Michael to do it and that will not prove to be an easy task.
Missy Franklin is the new female star and she's only 19.
The London Olympics 2012 should prove to be a great event.....but then again I've never met an Olympics that I didn't love.
The track stars are next up for the World Championships in South Korea in late August.
Good time to make your reservations for London. Surprise someone you love and sail across the pond for the Summer Olympics. I just saw a Louis Vuitton trunk for $20,000 at the Santa Monica Place. Order yours and plan the trip of a lifetime.
I could actually stow away in the trunk.

Wrong groupings
Medicare and Social Security are not entitlement programs and they should not be linked with welfare and other social programs when talking about giveaways.
My neighbor has decided to write a book about the welfare programs and the programs within the programs that completely discourage young healthy people from seeking employment.
The abuse of the welfare system is legendary and yet no one in public office ever tries to expose the abuse or point out exactly how much money is being wasted. The layers are so excessive that the programs within the programs have become firewalls of abuse...... Apparently impenetrable from the outside.
I just heard a story this morning from a neighbor about a young white couple from Santa Monica. The story was a personal one because the girl is my neighbors niece. They are expecting their third child in a few months. Neither one of them works and they are both healthy. He is 22 and she is 21. They live with their grandmother in a home that is owned by grandma.
They receive $2400 a month from the welfare office and $700 worth of food stamps. There is a program within a program that sends them a $150 gift card from Target every month. They also receive an hour of free couple's therapy each week.
I fully understand the concept of social programs to help the needy and disenfranchised. What I don't understand is why investigations are not done on a regular basis and why, when somebody is receiving welfare benefits, they aren't also receiving free mandatory job training.
The 22 year man just bought an X-box with his Target card.
My neighbor has decided to write a book about the welfare programs and the programs within the programs that completely discourage young healthy people from seeking employment.
How hard would it be to employ young social workers to investigate cases in person instead of sitting in an office and writing down whatever an applicant tells them? It doesn't make any sense if the answer is .....we can't afford it. Hiring 5000 state social workers to investigate fraud would eventually save the state billions of dollars....every year.
And I'm only talking about California........multiple that by 49 more states and the problem becomes egregious and enormous.
Social Security and Medicare always get poured into the debate concerning entitlements. Again they are not entitlements and they should be left out of any debate concerning the welfare system problems. I can see restructuring the Social Security guidelines and perhaps offering young people a chance to control their own money but that's an entirely different matter.
I read the other day that Federal revenue, as a share of the overall economy, is at it's lowest level since 1950. The article was by Ronald Brownstein, senior editor at the National Journal.
HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?
I will investigate that point and get back to you later.
In the meantime...let's find out why abuse of the welfare system is not a focus of political interest....and let's stop grouping Social Security and Medicare together with programs that are freebies.
Social Security and Medicare are not handouts.

Debt Ceiling and Deficit
Yesterday I referred to the deficit in a way that made it seem the same as the debt ceiling. After researching the subject a bit further it appears, in truth, that the debt ceiling has nothing to do with the budget and our massive deficit.
The two issues are separate and Republicans are using the budget expenditures to negotiate an increase in the debt ceiling....and Obama is participating in the negotiation by offering future cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
I suspect that wealthy individuals don't want their taxes raised....but at least they can deal with it.....without missing a rent or mortgage payment, forfeiting a meal or missing a doctor's appointment.
THE IDEA OF PENALIZING PEOPLE WHO ARE RECEIVING SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND MEDICAID IS SIMPLY RIDICULOUS.
GENERALLY THESE PEOPLE ARE OLDER, POORER AND UNHEALTHIER.
I fully agree that spending is out of control but I keep looking toward our involvement in other parts of the world and can't understand why the cost of participating in nation building in places where we don't belong......never becomes part of the budget dialogue.
I suspect that the debt ceiling issue will dominate our news in the next 30 days.
I hope the American public takes an interest in the battle and I hope we all learn a bit more about political maneuvering and political bullshit.
IT'S QUITE HARD TO TELL ONE FROM THE OTHER.
But taking money away from the disenfranchised , the elderly and the sickly people of this country is not a solution to over spending....and if you think it is then you are most likely a proud member of the Republican Party.
IS IT REALLY A PARTY WHEN THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE TARGETED ARE THE POOREST PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY? Sounds more like a slow execution.
There shall be more on the DEBT CEILING because it will get uglier and uglier before August 2nd.
Michael Timothy McAlevey
The two issues are separate and Republicans are using the budget expenditures to negotiate an increase in the debt ceiling....and Obama is participating in the negotiation by offering future cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
And then there are 87 freshman Republicans, many who claim to be in office because of The Tea Party, who claim not to be interested in being re-elected. That puts a group of people in political offices who don't really care about their political future....and while that might prove worthwhile in the long run, it also might prove disastrous in the short term. Many, if not all of those 87, say that will not vote for a increase in the debt ceiling unless the Obama Care health plan is eliminated. Actually that might be Michele Bachmann who said that, but she is a Tea Party leader....is she not?
Much of the debate also seems to be centered on increased taxation for the wealthy. What I don't hear enough about is how to close loop holes for Corporruptions. Just a reminder/ General Electric paid no corporate taxes in 2010......ZERO!

Deficit and other strange occurances
I read somewhere that the war costs are not part of the deficit numbers....which means that the spending has really gotten crazy since Bill Clinton left office.
Social Security recipients have not had a cost of living increase in two years.....which is odd because gas, food and energy costs have spiked in the last two years.
The debt ceiling is such a strange term when you know that it can be adjusted according to who has the most votes.
I think the American public has lost confidence in both parties and that's why groups like the Tea Party can get representation in the House and the Senate. It's important to know that they don't have multiple seats in either chamber.
We give $2 billion dollars a year to Pakistan for their military operations. HUH?
Republicans failed yesterday to overturn the LIGHT BULB ACT which would eliminate 100 watt incandescent bulbs by next January.
The problem is everybody wants to replace them with mercury filled fluorescent bulbs and they never mention LIGHT EMITTING DIODES or LEDs.
A special shout out to the American babes running around in Germany trying to win another World Cup.
Peaches are currently 77 cents a pound. It won't last long. Enjoy.

First step is ending with Atlantis

In 1962 a young vibrant President of the United States made a pledge that lifted our eyes toward the heavens in ways that we never considered. Not only did he say that America would go to the moon within the decade but he opened space travel for the first time.
Space Travel........leads to planet hopping which leads to alternative places to live long after our sun ceases to exist....which means the human species will forever be a part of the universe.
THE JUMP FROM ONE TRIP TO THE MOON TO LIVING IN ANOTHER GALAXY, ON ANOTHER PLANET, IS A HUGE JUMP.....BUT IT'S THE JUMP THAT OUR IMAGINATIONS TOOK WHEN PRESIDENT KENNEDY MADE THAT PROMISE.
Every single person that has worked on the space program since 1962 has had a larger goal than simply going to the moon and circling the earth.
The goal of making sure the human species survives is a goal that should exist inside every human being on the planet. Maybe it just sits quietly inside a small chamber of a portion of the brain not being used on a regular basis. It's part of us and although practical matters, such as food, rent, sunblock and love take a much larger role in our awareness.....IT IS THERE.
THE SPACE SHUTTLE has been intricate to feeding that goal even though most of us have never had anything to do with it and 90% of the population has never even seen a launch in person.
THE SPACE SHUTTLE has been intricate to feeding that goal even though most of us have never had anything to do with it and 90% of the population has never even seen a launch in person.
Tomorrow at 7:26 PST, weather permitting, the last United States sponsored Space Shuttle......ATLANTIS....will blast off and an era will end.
Private enterprise will assume the responsibility of taking mankind to destinations far beyond our present reach. It might take 20 or 30 years but we will resume our quest to make sure that we have another place to call home before our sun literally bakes all of our liquid. By all practical matters we only have about a billion years left so we better keep busy.
I realize that as you try to figure out where to make dinner reservations all of this seems rather silly.
Which brings this thought process around to
NEO-ILLUMINATION # 22
"the universe has a system of order and chaos
the human experience is a tangent of that system
which both
establishes order
and
creates chaos
belief systems directly lead to chaos
acceptance with investigation and introspection creates more order
the mysteries of the universe will always outnumber the known realities
and chaos will forever exist
our job simply might be
to avoid
extinction"
ALL HAIL
ATLANTIS.......

Back in Black
I haven't written an "article" since the 23rd because that subject is so important I wanted it to have front page status for as long as possible.
It was reported yesterday that after three years of losing money, The Vatican turned a profit in 2010. Donations were down $15 million which is 18% of their normal take....but with cost cutting maneuvers they were able to move back into black.
Some of the cost cutting maneuvers consisted of turning over thousands of customers in Northern Africa to Islam and refusing to participate in the Haiti recovery which just happens to be 90% Catholic.
Pope John Paul II started the revealing of profit and loss statements in 1981 to debunk the rumor that the Vatican was wealthy.
In 2010 The Vatican only made a profit of $14.3 million.
The Catholic Church continues to be one of the largest land owners in the world and I would venture to guess that the value of relics and antiquities owned by the church might total in the billions of dollars.
I'm fairly certain that the Catholic Church is wealthy. Healthy is another question.
If a new Crusade isn't in the works than I will assume that all of Africa will eventually be Islamic and all those years of missionary work on that continent will be for naught.
I still think THEY could recover some grace by deciding to build 100 churches in Haiti and put every single person to work on that side of the island.....WITH THE END RESULT BEING A CATHOLIC CHURCH TOURIST ATTRACTION.
CALL IT......................THE ISLE OF CHURCHES
IMAGINE BUILDING 100 CHURCHES WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT STYLES EVER CONCEIVED IN THE PAST AND NEW CONTEMPORARY STYLES.
The people of the island, men, women and children, could be employed for the next 25 years. ...and it could all be financed by the sale of church BLING.
Within a few months donations would pour into the confers because people would see the upside potential for rebuilding Haiti and helping those people create a new future.
THE ISLE OF CHURCHES would be such a big tourist attraction that they might have to build another airport......not to mention hundreds of hotels and restaurants.
THE PRESENT POPE COULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE MODERN RELIGIOUS WALT DISNEY.
I first came up with this idea over a year ago....but so far nothing has taken hold. I need to call the Pope. Does anybody have his cell phone number?
Have a safe and Happy Birthday America.

There is no excuse
It's no secret that I am against war as a problem solving solution. That puts me in a position of being anti-military....which I would say is an accurate assumption. I believe much too much money is spent on military endeavors around the world but I accept the current level of our human evolution and realize that while in the relatively near future (100 - 200 years) problems will be solved with compromise and diplomacy....currently asses need to be kicked from time to time. I choose not to be part of that ass-kicking but I understand that sometimes when training the puppy it needs to have its nose rubbed in the poop. Homo-sapien evolution is not that far along and while we have truly invented some cool toys we have yet to expand the extra senses that are available to our species.
Being anti-military does not mean I am anti-people who participate in the process. Obviously the military is an important employer for millions of people and in our current retro evolutionary stage there are times when power must be exerted....and protection must be provided.
WHAT I FIND TOTALLY INTOLERABLE IS THE FACT THAT THERE IS EVEN ONE HOMELESS VETERAN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
In Santa Monica we have a council member named Bobby Shriver who is fighting to have the Veterans Administration in West Los Angeles use their empty buildings to shelter homeless vets. The fact that a vet can't simply walk up to a VA building, anywhere in the US, and find a place to sleep anytime that want is totally unacceptable!
When a soldier loses his life in combat we always hear how a family should be extremely proud that their child gave their life for our country.
Why should it be any different throughout the entire life of any veteran who signed the papers to be part of the military complex?
"TAKING CARE OF OUR OWN" should be the optimum phrase.
It's appalling how much money we spend on military endeavors throughout the world.
IT'S DISGUSTING THAT ANY PERSON WHO JOINED THE MILITARY SHOULD EVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHERE THEY CAN SLEEP AND USE A BATHROOM.
The real question is......HOW MANY ARE THERE?
It shouldn't be that hard to find out.
Between the closed military bases and the Veterans Administration buildings every single one of those homeless vets should be immediately housed.
"TAKING CARE OF OUR OWN"
THAT PHRASE SHOULD BE USED ON EVERY RECRUITING ADVERTISEMENT.
LET EVERY YOUNG PERSON KNOW THAT IF THEY DO JOIN THE MILITARY THEY WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING HOMELESS.
The amount of money that will be saved by reducing our military actions around the globe can be used to solve this stupid problem.
And by not taking care of the people who risked their lives to join the military....the military proves once again that they are most definitely at a lower level of the human evolutionary chain.
WE NEED THEIR STUPID TOYS AND BAD ASS ATTITUDES BECAUSE WE ARE ONLY ABOUT 100,000 YEARS OLD....AND WE'VE ONLY BEEN RECORDING OUR DEVELOPMENT FOR ABOUT 25,000 YEARS AND WE'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO CREATE MULTIPLE COPIES SINCE AROUND 1439.
And although that's an explanation for our general stupidity, it is no excuse for allowing a member of the armed forces to sleep under a stack of newspapers.
In my advanced evolutionary future reality of the human species....no one will be homeless but that's an entirely different story.
THE PROBLEM OF HOMELESS VETS NEEDS TO BE FIXED TODAY.
I'm going to call the President and the Vice-President....but I need their cell phone numbers......does anyone have those numbers?

I expected more and that makes me angrier than before
Under GW's watch from 2001 to 2009 I never expected much, so I wasn't that disappointed by the actions and the behavior....and thus I was never pissed off during those eight years when the White House was being occupied by the GOP. Of course there were many times I was nervous that somebody in the White House could say such goofy things, but now looking back I realize that he never made me angry. Constantly questioning intelligence quota's to be sure....but never really angry.
I voted for Barack Obama because I thought that certain PROGRAMS would be adjusted.
PROGRAMS consist of global military action, corporation favoritism, tax loop holes for the wealthy and corporations and environmental issues. I never really thought Universal Health Care would take hold so I didn't consider that a viable PROGRAM. I'm not convinced that mandating health care can withstand the road blocks which will be established by the courts. In fact, I anticipate the Supreme Court will end up ruling against mandated health care.
President Obama has had two great opportunities in the last few months to reassure his voters ( 2008 and 2012) that he brought a different agenda to the party. The first being a response to Japan's horrible disaster and the second being the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
First: After the Japanese Nuclear problem he should have come out and stated unequivocally that Nuclear Power was not an option for the United States and the natural renewable forms of energy; wind, solar and geothermal, would be the primary focus of our energy program.
Second: The day after Bin Laden was killed he should have announced that our mission in Afghanistan was over and troop withdrawal would begin immediately. That was our mission wasn't it.....to capture or kill the man responsible for 9/11? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
ANY TYPE OF DEMOCRATIC NATION BUILDING THAT MIGHT BE ON THE AGENDA FOR AFGHANISTAN IS NOT A RATIONAL OPTION! IT'S A TRIBAL MENTALITY AND WITHOUT AN EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE THERE IS NO CHANCE IN HELL FOR CONVERTING THOSE PEOPLE TO A DEMOCRATIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT. TRYING TO HALT THE TALIBAN IS FUTILE BECAUSE THERE ARE NUMEROUS FACTIONS OF THAT SPECIFIC ISLAMIC MILITIA THAT CANNOT AGREE WITH ONE ANOTHER....SO ANY TYPE OF HARMONY WITH AN OUTSIDE INFLUENCE IS.....NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE.
MAYBE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE CAN GET EVERYBODY TO SIT DOWN AND REALIZE THAT 8TH CENTURY MORALITY AND SOCIAL BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS....DO NOT BELONG IN THE 21ST CENTURY......BUT I DON'T THINK I KNOW ANYBODY WHO CAN DO THAT WITHOUT HAVING A SABRE STUCK UP THEIR ASS.
The only positive thing to say about the Taliban is that......they aren't Al-qaeda....and they seem to be focused on Afghanistan and Pakistan whereas Al-qaeda seems hell bent on fucking with everybody on the planet.
I'm not unaware of the fact that I started talking about President Obama and now I'm ranting on about the Taliban and Al-qaeda.
This might all be related to the fact that I'm extremely upset with BO's focus and his lack of alternative behavior patterns......patterns that seem to parallel the previous administration.
Ron Paul is the only guy who seems to be telling America to wake up and stop nation building in places where it can't happen.
I'm not kidding when I say that Ralph Nader and Ron Paul need to join forces for the 2012 election. Maybe they could just handle the debates and create the questions.
I really don't want to hear Barack make promises that he has no intention of keeping and I REALLY don't want to hear some GOP goofball talk about what he will do different and how he or she will bring America back to the golden age of Reaganomics.
Maybe I'll just go into the mountains for the next 18 months and come back after the dust settles....or maybe I'll just work on a few of my paintings and pretend I went to the mountains.
Whatever I choose to do.....I'm a little upset with the result of my 2008 vote....and I really didn't see that happening.

What would they think?
I've lived on the corner of Washington and Lincoln since 1986 and yesterday I read an article in the LA TIMES that got me wondering what those two American Icons would think of the United States selling $46 BILLION worth of military hardware to FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS....in one year. That follows the $31.6 BILLION that the US sold in 2010.
The article by W.J. Hennigan brought up some very curious statistics. Mr. Hennigan wasn't able to call bullsh.t but it's quite often that I find myself as the one who needs to do that much needed job.
In October of last year Saudi Arabia ordered $60 BILLION (multiyear deal)of weapons from the following "great" American companies; Boeing, Raytheon and Sikorsky. The order from Raytheon focused on 2,000 pound bunker-busting bombs and from Boeing they needed some F-15 fighter jets.
Who exactly is Saudi Arabia's arch enemy? I remember that 17 of the 19 9/11 terrorists were nationalized citizens of Saudi Arabia....so MAYBE we are them????????
Egypt apparently is one of the largest customers for United States weaponry. It turns out that our toys are being used in Egypt, Baharin and Tunsia to squelch the pro-democracy protesters.
Pakistan, India and Indonesia were on a blacklist along with China and Iran, but recently were taken off of that list. If we sell weapons to Pakistan it really proves that we have lost touch with reality.
President Obama's marketing plan for weapons is making George W. Bush look like a pacifist.
It turns out that one of the major justifications for selling death toys to foreign governments is that it helps with the unemployment problem.
If you are BFF's with the US you get an even better deal. We give you the money to buy our weapons. Israel got $2.78 BILLION in aid from us...to spend on arms.
I HONESTLY FELT THAT WHEN PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS ELECTED THAT WE WOULD BE MOVING TOWARD A NON-MILITARY GLOBAL APPROACH TO SOLVING PROBLEMS. I DON'T REMEMBER VOTING FOR A F..KING FIVE STAR GENERAL.
THE "ENTIRE" PLANET IS QUICKLY BECOMING A WELL ARMED GLOBE and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight.
Why do I have a feeling that Canada doesn't participate in this deadly game?
The United States, China, Russia, Great Britain and France seem to be spiraling out of control toward who can win the weapons manufacturing award. The United States is currently the big kahuna but those other boys are busting their butts to catch up.
Is there no global vocal advocate who rejects this military consciousness???????
At this point I'd take anyone with mass appeal.....maybe Justin Beiber or Lady Gaga. Does anyone have their cell phone numbers?
Obviously politicians are part of the problem and religious leaders seem to be having their own issues....sport stars think it's all a game and my voice is limited to a very small area....on the corner of Washington and Lincoln.
I can't get anyone to even buy my artwork so there's not much chance I'll be able to alter the global weapons craze that obviously appears to be the main course on every countries plate.
Maybe I'll go to the Paris Air Show next week and order some drones and some F-15's.
INSANITY!!!!!!!!!

Bundled after long debate
We are all being presented with the same dilemma.....bundle our telephone, Internet and TV connections and save money. The three major players appear to be Verizon, Time Warner and AT&T. I have not been approached by AT&T because of logistics in my immediate area....even though you would think Santa Monica could not be considered rural by any stretch of the imagination. Time Warner and Verizon have sent monthly flyer's regarding their bundle packages. Verizon's service, FIOS, was not available north of Wilshire for almost two years while they laid the foundation of their network.
Last week I finally made the decision and selected FIOS to handle my various connection and entertainment distractions. Anything that takes me away from my art is a distraction, but also a necessary part of staying informed and somewhat social. FIOS was installed in about two hours and now I am saving almost $100 a month.
The best part of the decision is that I now have a NEW television experience. The remote is new and the format of programing is new and while I still haven't entered the flat screen world I now have new channels and different ways of interacting with the boob tube.
I highly recommend when making your decision to bundle (and you will eventually do it if you haven't already) that you wheel and deal until you get everything you want. There are no term contracts and if they try to make you sign something or pay for the installation then you are not being due diligent. The more you ask for the more you will get. I didn't ask for a two year price on the promotion but I should have.
My Internet speed is faster with FIOS then it was with Time Warner and I was always under the impression that Time Warner's Roadrunner connection was one of the fastest methods other than T1 connections. Then I realized that FIOS stands for Fiber Optic Service and.......duh! Light is usually faster than MOST EVERYTHING and that's what fiber optic means.....transmitting information by eletromagnetic carrier waves through the optical fibers.
The two year delay in my area of Santa Monica was simply due to the time it took to lay the fiber optic cable. The odd part is that when they did the installation they used the Time Warner cable that was already here. Obviously outside of my building is a different connection but I was told that Time Warner and Verizon use each other's cable whenever necessary. I'm not sure how the fiber optics work with existing cable but it is working quite nicely. Of course I'm going to learn more about it, but for now it is what it is and I can see cable jockeying being a problem in the future....but for now they seem to be sharing.
One of the things about Time Warner that always bothered me is that promotions for new customers were constantly arriving in my mail and I saw that if I wanted a better deal on my cable it would behove me to not be an existing customer. It actually doesn't make any sense not to offer your customers an occasional deal just to keep them happy. I was a Time Warner customer since they took over Aldephia and now I'm not.
As soon as AT&T gets their U-Verse service up and running in my neighborhood maybe I'll give them a try. I will use FIOS for a year because that's how long I get free HBO. I will be interested to see what their price will be after the year promotion is up. At that time maybe Time Warner will be offering free dinners and Dodger tickets.
For now I'm bundled and feeling warm and cozy with FIOS.
Is anything else going on in the world?

what's the chatter about the matter?

At the CERN project scientists have managed to trap ANTIMATTER for 17 minutes. The previous record was 0.2 of a second.
Attempting to understand what happened when the universe was created 14 billion years ago is the motivating force behind the Large Hadron Collider project which sits 575 feet underground near Geneva, Switzerland.
Apparently Matter and Antimatter were created equally when the Big Bang took place....but locating the antimatter has proved to be a challenge. "The theory" says that Antimatter could have been annihilated when it contacted Matter but if there were equal amounts then there would be no more universe.
THE TRAP works when a anti proton is combined with a positron produced by radioactive disintegration to produce slowly moving anti hydrogen atoms....which then can be trapped. The problem seems to be the interaction with gravity. The anti atoms need to be cooled to a temperature less than a thousandth of a degree above absolute zero.
That initial vibration of matter and antimatter meeting for the first time and starting a chain reaction that led to this moment.....right now......is the reason the LHC was built, at a cost of MULTIPLE BILLIONS of dollars. The physicists will not be happy until they hear a voice that says....
"I'm hiding antimatter in a non-physical reality space and you can't touch it until you change realities....or learn to build machines using only antimatter materials....and that's going to cost a lot more than multiple billions of dollars."
BOO!
So much to learn.....and we only have eternity to figure it out.....
if we just had a little more time........

No one does it like Woody

I've been a bit "unmotivated" recently and although it might be related to a few physical issues, even though that never seemed to bother me before, I seriously needed something to spark my wires or tip my scales or float my boat.....anything to get me stimulated.
Today I went to a matinee of Woody Allen's new movie "Midnight in Paris" and it was exactly what the doctor ordered....right after the antibiotics.
I'm always amazed when I read about the gross box-office results of a Woody Allen film and every time I say the same thing..............How can people not be seeing his movies?
Not only does he write with style and creativity.....he always manages to create something that no one has ever done and bring up issues that always seem to be left unsaid by regular film makers. This film is one of the greats in his long and industrious career and the best thing I thought when it was over was....please don't be over.....give us another hour....take us further into the time warp......
This film also reinforces my opinion that Marion Cotillard is in a class all by herself. It's not just the face....it's her ability to capture the screen as in the days of Garbo, Grant, Stewart and Hepburn. You can't wait to see her again and Mr. Konigsberg created a role which allows her to mesmerize our senses whenever she she steps into frame.
The fact that a Woody Allen film has never grossed more than $40 million is a statement....and it's a statement that I hate to make.
"MOST PEOPLE JUST DON'T WANT TO THINK WHEN THEY GO TO A MOVIE."
&
they sure don't want snappy dialogue to ruin their evening.
I realize there is a loyal following for Mr. Allen's film but it's just why to small.....and in my mind there's no real explanation.
$40 MILLION GROSS?????? HANGOVER 2 DID THAT IN ONE FREAKIN DAY.....AND IT WAS MINDLESS.
PIRATES HAS DONE 56 TRILLION AND IT'S BEYOND MINDLESS.
I sincerely hope that this movie becomes the highest grossing film of Woody Allen's 41 movies.....and I promise to do all I can to make that happen....
$50 MILLION PLUS..........a request to the movie gods......
Let's make it happen......
Thank you Woody for sharing your vision with us.
I'd like to call him.....does anyone have his cell number?
GO SEE THIS FILM AND THEN GIVE ME A CALL with the number.

Intern moves to the Discovery channel

A 22 year old INTERN, Amelia Fraser McKelvie from Australia, discovered something that thousands of scientists have been looking for since the Hubble telescope was put into orbit.
She found the MISSING MASS which I hadn't heard of before now. I thought all the searching was for Dark Matter and lo and behold Amelia takes a summer vacation to look at the universe and becomes an instant sensation on the Discovery channel.
So the moral of this story......always keep looking, but be careful when you loan your knowledge out to some snotty little intern. SHE WILL STEAL YOUR THUNDER!

The Beaver and the plot against Mel
THE BEAVER by Jodie Foster, starring Mel Gibson, is getting extremely short changed at the box office. After watching the film Saturday night I am further confused by the lack of attendance.
The film is important for anyone experiencing or knowing someone who is dealing with mental health problems. The film is important for anyone who has experienced the loss of a child, a brother or a sister. The film is important for anyone who has lost control of a business or a job. The film is important for anyone who has been involved in the breakup of a marriage and the destruction of a family unit.
IN MY OPINION THAT MAKES THE FILM IMPORTANT TO ABOUT 80% OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION.
Pirates of the Caribbean #4 took in $300 million on it's opening weekend.....The Beaver has been in theaters for about two weeks and probably hasn't done $1 million worth of business. I can't explain why no one is going to see this film except for the fact that Mel Gibson is being boycotted by the industry.
I personally think he deserves an Academy Award nomination for his role. Not only is it a compelling and believable performance, but when one mentally blends art and life together, than the fact that he decided to make this movie creates an experience that is much more impressive than a normal acting job.
Watching him on the screen and knowing the rumors about his off screen behavior makes the the film an exceptional piece of work.
I can't believe that industry executives would be able to squash a movie because they don't like the actor.....but that is exactly what this feels like.
I've read a few of the negative reviews and all I can say is that mental health problems can obviously create a ton of denial.
The reviews didn't make any sense....which further leads me to the opinion that some type of collusion is taking place in order to prevent this movie from reaching an audience.
I recommend this film to everyone of all ages, sex, religious affiliation, minor mental issues( yes that does include you) major and minor family problems and to anyone who just might be curious to see how much Mel Gibson has matured as an actor.
If we stopped watching movies and sports because of the erratic behavior of the talent then we would be left with very little to observe.
Imagine if we applied that type of bias to our politicians and our religious leaders.
Give Mel a break and go watch THE BEAVER!

Booooooom!

The LIFE magazine website has some incredible images of nuclear weapons being detonated since 1945. There have been more than 2000 nuclear test explosions, with the United States having the most at 1,054....of which two weren't a test.
Nuclear Countries
United States
Russia
United Kingdom
France
China
Israel
India
Pakistan
North Korea
South Africa
Check out the photographs and then simply accept the fact that
nothing
can
come
from
anything

to this type
of

EXCEPT
destruction
Simple and clear.

Borders, The Rapture and other silly stuff
There's been a backlash over the Obama announcement that the issue of borders in Israel, which separate Israeli's and Palestinians, needs to be readdressed based on Pre-1967 War boundaries.
Seems like pretty trivial stuff if The Rapture happens tomorrow. Of course the Jews are God's chosen people so most likely they'll be taking the heavenly trip. Of course that will cause some friction with the New Testament Fundamentalists and God will have to explain the boundaries once they all settle into Paradise. I wonder how the Islamic suicide bombers will feel about all these new people suddenly joining their multiple virgin heaven?
My take on President Obama's statement is that PEACE IS THE OBJECTIVE and anything that might lead to that objective......should be addressed. I realize how important having an ally in the Middle East is, but the Jewish settlement issue goes well beyond having a friend in the region. The issue predates the United States involvement by about 3000 years. What needs to be addressed is the origins of the region....but then again Native Americans would also like property readjustments to take place instead of Casino distribution. Has anybody thought about maybe letting the Palestinians build Casino's in the Gaza Strip?
I know this sounds too basic......but the Jews are not going to be displaced again......ever! All the other non-Jewish neighbors just need to accept that fact and figure something else out. If they all didn't keep spouting "Death to the Israeli's" perhaps some boundaries could be worked out. Jewish people have been known to negotiate and if they didn't feel like everyone in the hood was trying to kill them, they most likely would make adjustments to some of the property taken during the war.
I think that's what Barry is trying to bring up. Can we have peace through the process of making a few compromises? I think any property adjustments would have to include a statement from Hamas and the PLO (do they still have an office?) that they no longer want to kill all the Jews.
Of course if the The Rapture does happen tomorrow then property rights become pretty obsolete issues to those of us who have been left behind. Since I am a huge God fan...but not so much an organized religion fan.....I feel confident that Sunday will roll around and the issue in Israel will still be an issue that needs resolution.
I think President Barry Obama and Prime Minister Benny Netanyahu can sit down today and figure some form of dialogue that gives Palestinians a sense of hope for a homeland. But of course any dialogue has to include the end of all hate messages coming from the Palestinians.
Is it possible to end the problems in Israel and have a lasting peace?
Is it possible that Fundamentalist Christians might not understand the theory that GOD IS LOVE and that THAT love extends to every man, woman, child and on the face of the earth....and every other form of life throughout the UNIVERSE.
ALL Organized religions underestimate GOD and that's simply because organized religions are always man-made.
I honestly believe that The United States and Israel can figure how some way to make PEACE a reality in the Middle East and if means giving up a little land then so be it.
Remove the barriers and establish a new harmony. Take away the verbage that keeps creating hositility and fear in the region. No more hate talk....no more death talk.
LOVE is the word and we know what it means.
It's time to start practicing the concept on a much larger scale.
See you Sunday..............somewhere.

Turn up your speakers
I suggest you hook up your Bose quad stereo system to the computer and turn it to the max and simply enjoy one of the great man made sounds in modern history. The first 15 seconds of this video is like attending an AC/DC concert. In fact, on their next tour the boys should use this sound to start the show.
Step on the gas...let's go to space!

Thanks Phil.....

Everybody knows how important a good teacher is and you don't have to like basketball to appreciate that the Los Angeles Lakers had the best teacher in the history of professional sports.
In fact, basketball takes a very deep back seat when it comes to the talents of Philip Douglas Jackson from Deer Lodge, Montana.
Professor Phil's ability to handle the ridiculously innate questions from sports reporters constantly reassured me that higher forms of intelligence could be present in the world of professional athletics.
Of course many reporters and fans regard him as sarcastic and aloof.....and to those people I simply say......wake up!
The simple gesture of giving books to players every year probably explains Phil better than anything. He taught his players how to think....on and off the court. And having 11 championship rings proves that his methods were correct. He retires (maybe) with the knowledge that he is the most successful coach in the history of professional basketball.
John Wooden holds that distinction at the collegiate level but I think everyone would agree that coaching grown men, who are making millions of dollars, could represent problems that Dr. Wooden never had to face.
Phil's nickname is "The Zen Master" and that alone puts him in an entirely different category than any coach who ever lived. I imagine in the future we will have more and more coaches using his methods and becoming "mini zen masters" but the truth is.....Phil is the original.
I simply want to say thank you Phil for bringing an intelligence and sophistication to the city of Los Angeles. I'm not sure that you won't get the urge to coach again and if you do I think the city that gets your special energy will be forever grateful....except of course for the stupid reporters who don't have the slightest idea on how to ask the right questions.
I also think your sessions with Bill Macdonald before the Laker games were wonderful and you two might want to collaborate on a question and answer book summarizing your Laker years.
Thanks again Phil.....you are the best and the brightest of all the lights in professional sports.

Just trying to figure it out
I watched the first Republican debate the other night and I'm not really sure why they held it without any of the front runners and why didn't any of the front runners participate? It's so hard for me to figure out the Republican party. The hair on each of the candidates looks like it was ordered from central casting. Politicians are so good at not answering direct questions. I don't remember that class in school. "How to answer questions indirectly and still have people listen to you."
Donald Trump is the Republican Party fan favorite at this point and I would love to see him be the candidate for the GOP. How much fun would it be to riffle his feathers? And the bonus is he actually wears feathers on his head. If Sarah and Donald were the ticket for the Republican Party....I would have a full on mental woody.

The best odd part about The Donald ( and there's a nice size list of parts that lean to the odd) is that his corporations have declared four bankruptcies......FOUR TIMES HE HAS BEEN PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR A BUNCH OF PEOPLE LOSING A BUNCH OF MONEY...and because of corporate shields he can wash his hands and feel no remorse. How can he have the gonads to stand up in front of the American people and tell us that he knows how to run a country? Maybe his first job as President would be to declare bankruptcy and relieve America of its Chinese debt.
Seriously.....that might be The Donald Plan.
Maybe The Donald could just be a moderator on one of the debates.....that would be interesting.
I will apologize to the American public right now. I watch Celebrity Apprentice on my DVR and I'm not really sure why. I love Meatloaf but not really in this format. I keep waiting for them to show a video from Bat out of Hell.......but all they keep showing is The Meat bawling like a little girl.....
Anyway, the Presidential Race of 2012 is OFFICIALLY underway.
Pull up your chair, grab a sandwich and a pint of ale or 50 liters of Tequila and let the PARTY BEGIN!
Vomit gesture duly noted!

NPR and Rush Limbaugh
The country might be divided between who listens to NPR and who listens to Rush Limbaugh.
I guess the people that cause the most concern are the ones who only listen to Rush. If all your opinions and news are formed by only listening to Rush Limbaugh than you are a complete idiot. Not a partial idiot....BUT A COMPLETE IDIOT!
At least NPR has different people covering the stories. Limbaugh covers some of the same stories but the only opinion one hears....is Rush's.
NPR is 40 years old this week and the last six months have been challenging because the Republican Party has gone overboard on trying to eliminate any federal funding that helps support NPR.
I DEFY ANYONE WHO LISTENS TO RUSH TO LISTEN TO NPR FOR THREE DAYS....I guarantee your life will be softer, kinder and smarter. Just the vocal tones alone compared to Rush will make your days brighter. On top of that you will get to hear what true investigative reporting sounds like. You might not like what you hear but that's just because you are an idiot. Once you start listening to NPR you will cease being an idiot and you will become a well rounded individual.
Now I'm pretty sure there are no idiots reading this article so I feel like I'm talking to the wall.
If, on the other hand, you are one of the 20 million people who listen to Rush Limbaugh on a weekly basis I highly recommend you switch over and listen to NPR where 27 million people tune in every week.
It's a battle.....RUSH VS NPR......WHICH I FEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND. HOW DID A LOUD MOUTH OPINIONATED FATSO EVER GET 20 MILLION PEOPLE TO FOLLOW HIS CRAP?
O yeah....I forgot....there are a lot of idiots out there.
I think there should be a contest. Every Rush fan must listen to NPR for one week and then take a test. And every NPR fan must listen to Rush for one week and then take acid to try and help overcome the experience.
The winner of such a contest would be the United States of America.
How much better would this country be if there weren't so many idiots?
How cool would it be if Rush started listening to NPR.
Rush has probably made, in the last five years, the same kind of money that the government gives to NPR annually........around $500 million.
I can't believe I've spent the last ten mintues writing about Rush Limbaugh....
oh yeah I forgot.....
I'm
an
idiot!

Tough to be a middle child
So Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden bin dead for 24 hours was the 17th of 54 children. His dad, Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden bin dead since 1967, had eleven wives......and this isn't a Mickey Rooney story because Mickey never had his all at one time. Osama mother's name was Alia Ghanem and she was from Syria. What we don't get to read is how old the wives were when signing up for a life of leisure. My guess is that 13 or 14 is probably the cutoff age....anything older than that is used material. When Osama was 10 years old he inherited $300 million dollars. I wonder if each kid got that kind of coin or just the future terrorist Lion King.
What really bothers me is how much he and Yusuf Islam look alike! (Cat Stevens in case you've been under a rock or hiding in an Pakistani compound)
I wonder how soon the reality show will appear on network TV? You know someone filmed the event from start to finish. Mark Burnett would never let this kind of opportunity slip through the cracks.
I hope we find out who gets the $25 million dollar reward. I would love to learn that it's a 16 year grocery delivery boy from FADAD RALPHS down the street named.......Bobby bin Good.
This really has gone on far too long and I'm not referring to chasing Osama bin dead for 24 hours.......I'm talking about the hostility between Islam and Christianity.
I recommended it 10 years ago and I'm restating the idea.
There needs to be
a
COUNCIL of FAITH
and it needs to be televised and broadcast on a weekly basis until the bullsh..t stops. The bullsh..t involves hundreds of years of hostility caused by someone believing that they know exactly what GOD's will is.
The Christian and Islamic faith seem to have taken that belief to another level where violence and hostility are the only final solutions.
Judaism isn't any better in their belief system but the numbers are so small that it doesn't really matter what they believe....and they seem totally focused on protecting what they have and very little time trying to convince others to join the cause.
Christianity and Islam, on the other hand, have always made it a priority to bring others into their fold.
It is a Holy Recruiting War and it causes stress on a world wide basis. We need to call a peace treaty among the two major kick-ass and take no prisoner religions of world.
A COUNCIL OF FAITH needs to be called on a neutral site......probably somewhere where a lot of Buddhist hang out. Maybe the Dalia Lama could oversee it before he officially retires.
I think I'll call him.....do you have his cell phone number?
