what's the chatter about the matter?

At the CERN project scientists have managed to trap ANTIMATTER for 17 minutes. The previous record was 0.2 of a second.

Attempting to understand what happened when the universe was created 14 billion years ago is the motivating force behind the Large Hadron Collider project which sits 575 feet underground near Geneva, Switzerland.

Apparently Matter and Antimatter were created equally when the Big Bang took place....but locating the antimatter has proved to be a challenge. "The theory" says that Antimatter could have been annihilated when it contacted Matter but if there were equal amounts then there would be no more universe.

THE TRAP works when a anti proton is combined with a positron produced by radioactive disintegration to produce slowly moving anti hydrogen atoms....which then can be trapped. The problem seems to be the interaction with gravity. The anti atoms need to be cooled to a temperature less than a thousandth of a degree above absolute zero.

That initial vibration of matter and antimatter meeting for the first time and starting a chain reaction that led to this moment.....right now......is the reason the LHC was built, at a cost of MULTIPLE BILLIONS of dollars. The physicists will not be happy until they hear a voice that says....

"I'm hiding antimatter in a non-physical reality space and you can't touch it until you change realities....or learn to build machines using only antimatter materials....and that's going to cost a lot more than multiple billions of dollars."

BOO!

So much to learn.....and we only have eternity to figure it out.....

if we just had a little more time........
