SPECIAL SKY

Spectacular Sky Scene Monday Evening

Every once in a while, something will appear in the night sky that will attract the attention of even those who normally don't bother looking up. It's likely to be that way on Monday evening, Dec. 1.

A slender crescent moon, just 15-percent illuminated, will appear in very close proximity to the two brightest planets in our sky, Venus and Jupiter.

People who are unaware or have no advance notice will almost certainly wonder, as they cast a casual glance toward the moon on that night, what those two "large silvery stars" happen to be? Sometimes, such an occasion brings with it a sudden spike of phone calls to local planetariums, weather offices and even police precincts. Not a few of these calls excitedly inquire about "the UFOs" that are hovering in the vicinity of our natural satellite.

Very bright objects

Venus has adorned the southwestern twilight sky since late August. No other star or planet can come close to matching Venus in brilliance. During World War II, aircraft spotters sometimes mistook Venus for an enemy airplane. There were even cases in which Venus drew antiaircraft fire.

This winter, Venus is the unrivaled evening star that will soar from excellent to magnificent prominence in the southwest at nightfall. The interval by which it follows the Sun will increase from nearly three hours on Dec. 1 to almost four hours by Jan. 1. It's probably the first "star" you'll see coming out after sunset. In fact, if the air is very clear and the sky a good, deep blue, try looking for Venus shortly before sunset.

Jupiter starts December just above Venus and is moving in the opposite direction, dropping progressively lower each evening. By month's end Jupiter meets up with another planet – Mercury – but by then Jupiter is also descending deep into the glow of sunset. In January, Jupiter will be too close to the Sun to see; it's in conjunction with the Sun on Jan. 24.

Earthlit ball

A very close conjunction of the crescent moon and a bright star or planet can be an awe-inspiring naked-eye spectacle. The English poet, critic and philosopher, Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) used just such a celestial sight as an ominous portent in his epic, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." In addition, there are juxtaposed crescent moon and star symbols that have appeared on the flags of many nations, including Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Algeria, Mauritania, and Tunisia.

Also on Monday evening, you may be able to see the full globe of the moon, its darkened portion glowing with a bluish-gray hue interposed between the sunlit crescent and not much darker sky. This vision is sometimes called "the old moon in the young moon's arms." Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was the first to recognize it as what we now call "earthshine."

As seen from the moon, the Earth would loom in the sky some 3.7 times larger than the moon does for us. In addition, the land masses, the oceans and clouds make the Earth a far better reflector of sunlight as compared to the moon. In fact, the Earth's reflectivity varies as clouds, which appear far more brilliant than the land and seas, cover greater or lesser parts of the visible hemisphere. The result is that the Earth shines between 45 and 100 times more brightly than the moon.

The Earth also goes through phases, just as the moon does for us, although they are opposite from what we see from Earth. The term for this is called "complementary phases." On Nov. 27, for example, there was a new moon for us, but as seen from the surface of the moon that day, there appeared in the lunar sky a brilliant full Earth. A few nights later, as the sliver of a crescent moon begins to appear in our western twilight sky, its entire globe may be glimpsed.

Sunlight is responsible for the slender crescent, yet the remainder of the moon appears to shine with a dim blush-gray tone. That part is not receiving sunlight, but shines by virtue of reflected earthlight: the nearly full Earth illuminating the otherwise dark lunar landscape. So earthshine is really sunlight which is reflected off Earth to the moon and then reflected back to Earth.

Keeping it all in perspective

Keep in mind that this head-turning display of three celestial objects crowded together will be merely an illusion of perspective: the moon will be only about 251,400 miles (403,900 km) from Earth, while Venus is nearly 371 times farther away, at 93.2 million miles (149.67 million km). Meanwhile, Jupiter is almost 2,150 times farther away than our natural satellite at 540.3 million miles (869.0 million km).

Those using binoculars or a small telescope will certainly enjoy the almost three-dimensional aspect of the moon, but Venus will be rather disappointing appearing only as a brilliant blob of light, for right now, it's a small, featureless gibbous disk. That will change in the coming weeks, however, as Venus approaches Earth and the angle it makes between us and the Sun allows it to evolve into a "half-moon" phase in mid January, and a lovely crescent phase of its own during the latter part of February and March.

Jupiter on the other hand is a far more pleasing sight with its relatively large disk, cloud bands and its retinue of bright Galilean satellites. All four will be in view on Monday evening, with Callisto sitting alone on one side of Jupiter, Ganymede, Io and Europa will be on the other side. Io and Europa will in fact, appear very close to each other, separated by only about one-sixth the apparent width of Jupiter.

ENJOY

BIGGER PICTURE

This last picture is how Einstein explained the movement of particles from one universe to another. Another universe being the other side of a black hole....POSSIBLY.

OF COURSE THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING BUT IN MY SEARCH FOR EQUATIONS THIS PICTURE APPEARED...

I'M LOOKING FOR EQUATIONS....LIKE E=MC2...THAT EXPLAIN THINGS ON A GRAND SCALE

AND SINCE MATHEMATICS AND MUSIC ARE THE ONLY UNIVERSAL LANGUAGES THEN I NEED SOME SIMPLE ANSWERS.

and that brings me to ART-EQUATIONS.

ASK ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!

If not then simply enjoy the unusual gathering in Monday's sky. A few planets and the moon will make for a special site. Check it out.

By the way the second picture is an artist rendering of the Calabi-Yau....which is one of those Quantum mysterious characters....Google it to learn more.

Thanksgiving Cheer From Obama

He's assembled a first-rate economic team.

When President-elect Barack Obama's economic transition team met this month, everyone was there -- inflation fighters, business leaders, union firebrands and leftist economists -- creating confusion about where the new administration was headed.

Mr. Obama's announcement of his economic team on Monday provided surprisingly positive clarity. He picked as Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, the respected, soft-spoken New York Fed president. Mr. Geithner has been a key player with Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke in confronting the financial crisis. Every major decision in the rescue effort came only after the three agreed.

The National Economic Council director-designee, Larry Summers, is another solid pick. Mr. Summers has been an advocate for trade liberalization, he was the Clinton administration's negotiator for the financial deregulation known as Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and he even attempted to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the 1990s.

Mr. Obama also named a respected monetary expert -- Christina Romer -- to head up his Council of Economic Advisors. On Tuesday he selected a first-rate thinker, Peter Orszag, to be director of the White House's Office of Management and Budget.

HE GOES ON TO BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT SOMETHINGS BUT ENDS HIS ARTICLE WITH THE FOLLOWING

"But, overall, Monday's announcement of Mr. Obama's economic team was reassuring. He's generally surrounded himself with intelligent, mainstream advisers. Investors, workers and business owners can only hope that, over time, this new administration's economic policies bear more of their market-oriented imprint."

THERE ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT THIS STORY THAT SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ME.

THERE ARE SOME THINGS ABOUT THIS STORY THAT ARE VERY STRANGE

KARL ROVE is pleased with Obama's appointments?

HUH?????????????????????????????????????????????????????

AS SOMEONE WHO COMPLETELY VOTED WITH THE IDEA OF CHANGES TAKING PLACE FROM THE OLD BOY NETWORK STYLE OF DOING BUSINESS...I CAN'T IMAGINE THESE APPOINTMENTS PLEASING KARL ROVE AND ALSO PLEASING....

62 MILLION AMERICANS WHO VOTED FOR BO.

I realize we live in strange times and if Barack Obama appoints Karl Rove as a senior advisor to the White House then I will officially declare this as being the strangest time we have ever experienced.

Talk about a Quantum Leap.

I guess I should be somehow or somewhat or someway encouraged that an architect of George W. Bush's two term EVENT in the White House...would say nice things about the next President of the United States.

BUT EXCUSE ME....THIS IS KARL ROVE and all I can think is that he is behind some extremely sinister plot that will result in something negative happening to the party and their new leader.

IT'S A DIVERSION TACTIC

I MIGHT BE A CONSPIRACY NUT...a bit less involved than Mel Gibson was in that cool movie.....

BUT THINK ABOUT IT FOR A FEW MINUTES

IF A RIGHT WING POLITICAL DIRTY TRICKS PLANNER WANTED TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE BALL THEN HE WOULD CREATE AN EXPLOSION AT THE OTHER END OF THE FIELD.

KARL ROVE SAYING SOMETHING POSITIVE ABOUT BARACK OBAMA IS A DEFINITIVE EXPLOSION.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL AND DON'T GET DIVERTED.

ASCERTAIN THE DISCONCERTING DISEMBARKATION ADJUDICATED BY MR. ROVE.....

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BIG WORDS OR THE SMOKE BEING BLOWN UP SOME ONE'S ASS.

ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SMOKE IS BEING BLOWN BY THE ULTIMATE FIRE CREATOR OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Australia is not a turkey

And finally another film by Baz Luhrman. The guy takes so long to make and edit his films but it is well worth the wait.

AUSTRALIA is large scope movie making at it's best.

The story subtext is incredible and the love story is wonderfully done in a triangular manner which happens to include a child.

A remarkable young actor in his first film. His name is Brandon Walters.....and in many ways he steals the film.

If you want to see a movie over the holiday and are looking for epic proportions of good old fashion movie making...this is the ticket.

Have a great Thanksgiving

CHANGE might not be the word

I fully understand the ramifications of needing to stay within certain parameters when it comes to taking over the White House.

I realize BO can't appoint Reverend Wright as Secretary of State and he can't name William Ayres as Secretary of Defense and of course he can't name David Geffen Secretary of Entertainment....
BUT
I'm a bit concerned how the NEW appointments will look to the INTENSE supporters of his campaign.
The first time voters who believed a CHANGE was possible must be kinda scratching their little heads wondering ....and huh?

The first picture of Barack, after the election, with his economic team... looked a tad bit like the previous picture. And by previous picture I mean the one we've been looking at for 200 years. There was a woman and there was a black man but the rest of them were the same o same o.....(is that the way one writes same o? I've never written it before)

Now today he announced that Robert Gates was staying on as Secretary of Defense for at least one year.

That just doesn't seem right even though one can put up a strong argument about the country being involved in two wars and making a quick change might cause multiple problems.

WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ONE OF THE MAIN IDEAS WHEN I VOTED FOR BO

CREATE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS FOR THE
WMT'S (WAR MENTALITY THEORISTS)
CREATE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS FOR THE STATUS QUO

When one stops and truly thinks about the overall situation regarding the two party stranglehold on American politics... then one can honestly understand why Ralph Nader says what he says....and believe me I realize that it's a message that very few people want to hear.

OR WORST......THAT VERY FEW PEOPLE CAN HEAR.

WE HAVE SELECTIVE INFORMATIONAL HEARING IN THIS COUNTRY AND WE ARE DAMN PROUD OF IT.

WE HEAR WHAT WE'VE BEEN TRAINED TO HEAR.

JUST LIKE HOW WE INTERPRET THE EXISTENCE OF GOD.

IT COMES DOWN TO HOW SOMEONE ELSE HAS TOLD YOU IT SHOULD BE.

PROBABLY MUCH MORE SO IN REGARDS TO RELIGIOUS BELIEFS THAN POLITICAL BELIEFS, BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT BELIEF SYSTEMS ARE HANDED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION AND THAT BRINGS ME TO A

NEO
-ILLUMINATION.
**********************************************************************************

THE MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE WILL ALWAYS OUTNUMBER THE KNOWN REALITIES

EXTINCTION

*******************************************************************************
I JUST WANTED TO SEE BO APPOINT PEOPLE WHO WERE LESS INCLINED TO PROMOTE CHAOS AND MORE INCLINED TO PROMOTE ORDER....AND SO FAR IT LOOKS LIKE THE SAME PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN CONTRIBUTING TO THE CHAOS FACTOR.....

BUT THEN AGAIN THAT JUST MIGHT BE ME.

THE SAME AS IT EVER WAS.....SAME O or however it gets written.

Buddha and Twilight

KATHMANDU (AFP) – A young man believed by followers to be a reincarnation of Buddha has returned to Nepal's jungles to meditate alone, police said Saturday, as scholars cast doubt on his supporters' claims.

Known as the "Buddha Boy," Ram Bahadur Bomjam, 18, became famous in 2005 after supporters said he could meditate motionless for months without water, food or sleep.

"Bomjam went back into the jungle late Friday and all the devotees have left," police officer Gobinda Kushwaha told AFP from Neejgad, a town in Bara District, 60 kilometres (37.5 miles) south of Kathmandu.

The "Buddha Boy" reappeared earlier this month after supporters said in March 2007 that he was going to meditate for three years in an underground bunker, although he was spotted on two occasions.

For the last 10 days, he has been blessing thousands of devotees who came daily to the site in dense jungle close to Neejgad.

The president of the Nepal Buddhist Council said claims by his supporters that he was a reincarnation of Siddartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism, were not credible.

"We do not believe he is Buddha. He does not have Buddha's qualities," said Mahiswor Raj Bajracharya, president of the Nepal Buddhist Council, a centre for Buddhist study and research in Kathmandu.

"He may have achieved great heights in meditation, but that alone does not make him a Buddha. A Buddha needs life experience, a young man who has not seen the world at all cannot be a Buddha," said Bajracharya.

Despite being officially secular under the new Maoist government, Nepal -- where around 80 per cent of people are Hindu and 11 per cent are Buddhist -- remains a deeply spiritual place.

"This is a country where people worship idols and stones, and everyone educated or not believes in the supernatural," the Buddhist scholar said.

Some 7,000 people gathered Friday to hear the youth speak.

"Materialism has brought forth fear, worry and disputes and has created war in this country. One should follow religion and philosophy for inner happiness," Bomjam told the crowds in a 15-minute address.

People joined a six-kilometre (3.75-mile) queue to be blessed, a wait that 43-year-old farmer Singha Bahadur Tamang said was worthwhile.

"This is a miracle and he is the reincarnation of Lord Buddha himself," said Tamang, who traveled eight hours by bus to hear Bomjam speak.

"I've been here for the last 10 days and the feeling is amazing. I really feel at peace here," he said.

The head of the committee that organises events around Bomjam insists he survives without food and water.

"We have never seen him eat or drink and we believe he's a god in human form," said Bed Bahadur Thing, president of the Buddha Jungle Meditation Conservation and Prosperity Committee.

At the height of Bomjam's fame, a French TV crew filmed the youth eating fruit and an AFP correspondent caught him napping.

On Friday, visitors to the jungle site put money into collection boxes, though Thing declined to say how much had been collected.

"Many people say we're just doing this for the money, but we have expenses for volunteers, food, security and maintenance," he said. "After he has gone back into the jungle, we will make our accounts public."

WHILE BACK IN LOS ANGELES ....FANS GO NUTS OVER

TWILIGHT

I went to the first show on Friday morning just to see if there was any unusual behavior from fans of this very successful book series by Stephanie Meyer.

I'm sort of happy to report that yes there was unusual behavior at the show.

First let me explain that while I am much more interested in the Buddha boy story I am also a realist and understand fully that millions of young people will go to see Twilight and perhaps about 1 percent of them will ever question whether Buddha boy is real.

Imagine if young girls started screaming when Buddha boy appeared on the screen. For all I know young girls in Katmandu ARE screaming when he shows his face.

But here in good old Santa Monica young girls were screaming at the screen when EDWARD first appeared.

I like the fact that young people are excited about this movie because it means they READ A BOOK.

Actually they have read FOUR BOOKS if they are big fans...and the reading of any book is a good thing.

It could start an entire new craze. Imagine these same kids finding out about Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling.

WOW.

The fact that Stephanie Meyer created Vampires that don't suck human blood is a stroke of genius.

But if these new fans of reading stumble on Bram Stokers Dracula...they will probably vomit. And then if they follow that up with Ann Rice's work they will never sleep at night.

Vampires have suddenly become the new rock stars....as long as they promise not to drink human blood they can now show up for Thanksgiving dinner and even appear in sunlight. Just a little twinkling to get use to.

Knowing that the new breed of Vampires love to play baseball makes everything perfect.

I would have liked to have seen a little longer game but I understand the reality of holding people's attention...especially young people.

I wonder if Buddha Boy will get to his local cineplex in Nepal this weekend and catch Twilight? He probably just has to think about it and then watches it while he meditates. Obviously it sounds like he doesn't need the popcorn and soda.

Twilight and Buddha Boy.....does life get any better?

ANOTHER DAY TO WONDER

I decided to remember JFK this year by also remembering what he really liked...thus the first three pictures.

He was the ultimate hound dog and apparently did not hide it very well. Probably had something to do with the way he smelled....or the fact that he was President of the United States.
But from what I've learned he was pretty active before he got to the White House.

Personal choices are personal choices and he obviously paid big time for his behavior.

I can't imagine that he was paying a karmic debt this day in Dallas 45 years ago.

BUT I'VE HEARD OF STRANGER THINGS.

The thing I miss most about the JFK experience is what might have been. Historians argue which way he was headed about Viet-Nam and I side with the ones who think he would have not pursued military action.

It just occurred to me that Republicans really don't like Democrats who give good speeches.

What's up with that?

Anyway....JFK loved woman and he loved playing golf and he loved hanging out with his brothers and he loved giving speeches.

AND HE ALWAYS MADE SENSE WHEN HE GAVE A SPEECH.

THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN VERY OFTEN ANYMORE.

BUT I'M GRATEFUL THAT I WAS ABLE TO HEAR HIM SPEAK FOR A FEW YEARS.

I wonder what movie stars he would be hanging with today. Of course today he would be 90+ so his choices might be limited to starlets with great grandfather fetishists.

Still miss you Jack...even if I do think that your brother Bobby would have been a better President...because he actually gave better speeches.

WRONG AND HAPPY ABOUT BEING WRONG

18 months ago after Barack started his quest to be President...I wrote an article telling him to change his name to Barack Edward Russell....or something like that...I think I even suggested getting rid of Barack and replacing it with Ben. I flat out stated that America would never vote for someone whose named sounded like Osama and once people found out his middle name was Hussein, he would be toast. It was early enough in the campaign and nobody knew how to pronounce his name anyway... so a name change done early enough would not be a problem.

I also wasn't convinced that America would vote for an African American, even if he was only half African American but I don't think I told him to go the Michael Jackson route of skin bleaching.
Somewhere along the line things are what they are and nothing one can do can change that tune.

I WAS SO WRONG
AND
NOW
I AM
SO
HAPPY
that I was wrong.

And this is precisely why his Presidency has tremendous potential. The American people, in their new found generous and loving behavior, will now start to feel better about themselves.
Most people aren't even aware of their new found behavior but it will start to take shape as Barack starts addressing situations. He already got his name associated with Climate Change and he's not even in the White House. Knowing someone with power is now starting to address Global Warming is very encouraging....because everybody now knows that it is beyond the theory stage....it's happening and it needs to addressed.

I hope he mentions Colony Collapse Disorder soon.

Barack Obama's job is to be the head coach. The ability to give good speeches is what motivates the team to perform. There are so many aspects of the current economic crisis. First and foremost people have to feel good about themselves....and it also helps if people trust the people in power positions. Actions follow trust.

TRUST, at this point in time, might be the hardest factor to establish.

HOPE
WE'VE GOT IN SPADES

TRUST
WE AREN'T QUITE SURE IF WE CAN TRUST ANYBODY TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS.

CHANGE
is probably not going to happen along the lines that some people think...after all it's still a two party system that remains in power and neither of them have any plans on relinquishing that power to a third entity.

They don't mind sharing it with each other but a third choice is out of the question
.

Certain aspects of Capitalism are being questioned. Greed being the primary concern of a free market system.

REGULATIONS MUST BE IN PLACE WHEN PEOPLE HAVE SHOWN A TENDENCY TO RUN AMOK.

Regulations are known as laws when it comes to civil action. Why can't there be laws in place to limit the amount of greed being displayed but corporate and legislative gluttonous behavior.

DEREGULATION means that everybody involved can be trusted to do the right thing and conduct their business in a manner that benefits the majority of people using their particular service.

I'm not convinced that we are close to that type of responsible behavior but then again I never thought Barack Obama would become President of the United States.

So happy to be so wrong.

How much?

This morning I was reading an article about the BIG THREE auto makers trying to get some of the bail out coin and came across a an interesting paragraph. The quote was from Congressman Spencer Bachaus of Alabama.

"I'm sure that I'm going to be asked the following question...' Congressman, I work at Honda or I work at Mercedes...I get $40 an hour....why are you going to take my tax dollars and pay it to a company that's paying their employees $75 an hour?"

HOW MUCH AN HOUR?

I imagine the $75 an hour includes all benefits...but then again I have no idea because I've never been involved in a Union contract. In fact the only union people I know personally were in the Major League Baseball union and I don't think that really counts as a union.....except of course to the baseball players.

I suppose everybody already knew that GM, Ford and Chrysler were paying their workers $75 an hour but the real question is how does Mercedes get away with $40 an hour and charge so much more for their cars.

Maybe we are only talking C Class rides.

The problem with not helping the Big Three seems to centered around the issue of how many fringe companies would be shut if one of those went down. Outsourcing is not only done outside the country but also outside the factory.

Apparently our old Big Three have failed to upgrade their main facilities and that just seems silly. I find it hard to believe that modern technology is not in place in Detroit but maybe that would explain the $75 an hour dealio.

Older plants need more hands and more hands means more labor contracts and more labor contracts mean higher wages.

My favorite thing from Detroit is Kid Rock so I admit to knowing very little about the inner workings of the BIG THREE....but it seems like if the country is having contraction on the Real Estate market than perhaps a little contraction in the auto industry labor contracts might be in order.

Can some one making $75 an hour get by on $65 an hour?

Jeez......how come India doesn't have nice cars that sell for $3000? I promise you that nobody in their automobile factories is making $75 an hour. Does India even make cars?

Just wondering?

It's kind of like... can Manny Ramirez get by on $22 million a year instead of $25 million?

Something seems silly when you start looking at the big picture.

Amazing how many corners there are when trying to straighten things out.

COME ON GIRL

Play Video ABC News – The Roundtable: Secretary Clinton?
Intrigue, questions surround Obama's possible Clinton pick AFP/File – US president-elect Barack Obama (L) and New York Senator Hillary Clinton address supporters during a …

CHICAGO – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has engaged a team of prominent lawyers to help President-elect Barack Obama vet her candidacy for secretary of state even as some insiders criticized the pick and advisers to the former first lady said she was weighing whether to take the job if Obama offered it.

Attorneys Cheryl Mills, David Kendall and Robert Barnett are working with the Obama transition team to review information about the Clintons' background and finances, including Bill Clinton's post-presidential business deals and relationships with foreign governments. Bruce Lindsey, a longtime Clinton adviser who now heads the former president's charitable foundation, has taken a leadership role in the process, aides said.

All represented the Clintons on legal matters in the White House, including President Clinton's dalliance with intern Monica Lewinsky that led to his impeachment in 1998.

Officials knowledgeable about the vetting said it has gone smoothly and that both Clintons were cooperating fully.

Bill Clinton already has appeared to take an important step toward smoothing his wife's path to the job.

Democrats familiar with the negotiations said the former president has suggested he would step away from day-to-day responsibility for his foundation while his wife served and would alert the State Department to his speaking schedule and any new sources of income.

A top aide involved in the vetting said there was nothing obvious in the former president's dealings that would torpedo his wife's prospects for the job. The aide was not authorized to discuss the matter, and would speak only on background.

Somali pirates seize supertanker loaded with crude

This undated picture made at an unknown location shows the Sirius Star tanker AP – This undated picture made at an unknown location shows the Sirius Star tanker conducting a trial run …

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Somali pirates hijacked a supertanker hundreds of miles off the Horn of Africa, seizing the Saudi-owned ship loaded with crude and its 25-member crew, the U.S. Navy said Monday.

It was the largest ship pirates have seized, and the farthest out to sea they have successfully struck.

****************************************************************************

I'M NOT SURE AND I HAVE NO EVIDENCE BUT I THINK THIS IS THE WORK OF HALLIBURTON.

DICK CHENEY WILL SOON BE OUT OF WORK SO HE NEEDS TO DIRECT HIS ENERGY TO SOMETHING NEW.

DICK CHENEY BECOMING A PIRATE MAKES COMPLETE SENSE TO ME....BUT THEN AGAIN I ADMIT TO BE A BIT CYNICAL WHEN IT COMES TO BEHAVIOR OF PEOPLE LIKE DICK CHENEY, DONALD RUMSFELD, PAUL WOLFOWITZ AND KARL ROVE.

THEY ARE ALL PIRATES HIDING UNDER THE FLAG OF A SHIP CALLED

THE PROJECT FOR A NEW AMERICAN CENTURY

It's a very large ship and capable of hijacking a 330 YARD crude oil tanker....after all...they hijacked an entire country. (maybe more than one)

OK...I ADMIT THAT MY TAKE ON THE PIRATE STORY IS A BIT OFF (HOPEFULLY) BUT WHEN I TRY TO WRAP MY MIND AROUND PIRATES STEALING A 1000 FOOT OIL TANKER.... I JUST SHORT CIRCUIT.

How in the world can another ship get close enough for pirates to jump on board? One can see for miles and miles at sea...and radar tracking is basic on all ships. Now if the pirates disguise themselves as whales, then I can understand how they did it....

AND I SUPPOSE HAND HELD WEAPONS....LIKE ROCKET LAUNCHERS....WORK FAIRLY WELL IF YOU WANT SOMEONE TO STOP DEAD IN THE WATER....NO MATTER HOW BIG.

The oil companies and oil countries simply need to have highly trained armed guards on board. It's not like they can't afford the extra labor. They also need to have F-15's ready on a moments notice.

And now the pirates are taking the 330 YARD ship to their pirate town of ELY...a northeastern port town of Somali. I wonder how tourist are treated in that port town? Does Somali have any type of authority? The leaders of Somali are asking for the big hurt.

This seems like a perfect situation for the United Nations.

Come on UN dudes and dudettes....get your act together and make some noise.

Pirates should not be able to function in the 21st Century....even pirates like Dick Cheney and his merry band of Ne0-Conservatives.

Seriously strange behavior.

5 Bedrooms 2 Baths BIG YARD...$100 BILLION

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7730799.stm

The Space Shuttle Endeavor blasted off last night in a mission that could be referred to as the UFU.........ULTIMATE FIXER UPPER.

The crew is adding two new bedrooms and a bathroom to the International Space Station...which means the station will have five bedrooms and two baths.

Total cost for this 5 bedroom 2 bath location....and it truly is a location, location, location situation....total cost $100 Billion dollars.

BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR AND OUT OF THIS WORLD....

and if you are looking for some privacy from neighbors...this is the place to be.

One of the interesting sidebars to this story is the
REGENERATIVE ECLSS SYSTEM....which costs $250 Million and is a water treatment apparatus about the size of a closet.

This water treatment system is capable of recycling sweat and urine into drinking water and oxygen.

Which brings me to the question of DESALINATION.

WHY CAN'T WATER FOR CROPS AND IRRIGATION COME FROM THE OCEAN?

DOESN'T DESALINATION WORK....AND AREN'T THERE ALREADY DESALINATION PLANTS OPERATING?
Why do I have to hear that the next great war will not be fought because of oil but because of WATER?
DESALINATION PLANTS WOULD END THAT BULLSHIT EXCUSE FOR HAVING ANOTHER WAR.
I'm sure the plants have to be fairly expensive but if we can spend $250 million to turn sweat and pee into drinking water for a 5 bedroom 2 bath facility in space...then we can probably figure out how to water the crops of the world by utilizing the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.

I love the Space Shuttle and I love the Space Station but I really love it when human beings put priorties in their proper sequence.

And to be honest....I'm not sure I see enough of that behavior on a regular basis.

But then again...that might just be me.

Michael Timothy McAlevey
