Somali pirates seize supertanker loaded with crude
AP – This undated picture made at an unknown location shows the Sirius Star tanker conducting a trial run … DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Somali pirates hijacked a supertanker hundreds of miles off the Horn of Africa, seizing the Saudi-owned ship loaded with crude and its 25-member crew, the U.S. Navy said Monday.
It was the largest ship pirates have seized, and the farthest out to sea they have successfully struck.

It's a very large ship and capable of hijacking a 330 YARD crude oil tanker....after all...they hijacked an entire country. (maybe more than one)
OK...I ADMIT THAT MY TAKE ON THE PIRATE STORY IS A BIT OFF (HOPEFULLY) BUT WHEN I TRY TO WRAP MY MIND AROUND PIRATES STEALING A 1000 FOOT OIL TANKER.... I JUST SHORT CIRCUIT.
How in the world can another ship get close enough for pirates to jump on board? One can see for miles and miles at sea...and radar tracking is basic on all ships. Now if the pirates disguise themselves as whales, then I can understand how they did it....
AND I SUPPOSE HAND HELD WEAPONS....LIKE ROCKET LAUNCHERS....WORK FAIRLY WELL IF YOU WANT SOMEONE TO STOP DEAD IN THE WATER....NO MATTER HOW BIG.
The oil companies and oil countries simply need to have highly trained armed guards on board. It's not like they can't afford the extra labor. They also need to have F-15's ready on a moments notice.
And now the pirates are taking the 330 YARD ship to their pirate town of ELY...a northeastern port town of Somali. I wonder how tourist are treated in that port town? Does Somali have any type of authority? The leaders of Somali are asking for the big hurt.
This seems like a perfect situation for the United Nations.
Come on UN dudes and dudettes....get your act together and make some noise.
Pirates should not be able to function in the 21st Century....even pirates like Dick Cheney and his merry band of Ne0-Conservatives.
Seriously strange behavior.
