Dark Matters unless it's Dark Energy

They handed out some Nobel prizes this week and once more I need to remind those who somewhat care about the composition of the Universe....and it seems like a small percentage.....that what we can see and feel is realllllllllly small compared to what we can't see and feel.

Dark Energy makes up 73% of the Universe
Dark Matter...23%
and
all visible matter........4%

4% is our visible reality!

Dark Energy is an unexplained force in the world of physics and thus neither you or I have the slightest idea about it's true nature.

Actually I do have an idea but you wouldn't believe it if I told you.

We do know there are two fields in which things can be explained through the world of physics........the field of Quantum Mechanics and the field of General Relativity.

Basically the BIG picture and the LITTLE picture. Einstein developed the BIG picture and multiple brainiacs are credited with the LITTLE guy....with the main star being Werner Heisenberg. Max Planck actually came up with the Quantum Mechanics name but
Max Born, Wolfgang Pauli and Neils Bohr are equally important in the formulation of the theory.

Schrodinger's cat experiment......(click on title of this piece)
helped further the process of trying to understand what Quantum Mechanics was...but if that comes up at a cocktail party I think it's time to go see a movie.

Lately I've been reading about nanobots in relationship to nanotechnology manufacturing and I seriously have some questions regarding safety. The human body is very sensitive and regulating construction of products by tiny robots might not be a process left in the hands of multi-national corporuptions whose sole goal is to increase profits.

I realize that sounds like the unibomber but anytime someone questions corporate reality then the next steps are disclaimers followed by car accidents and private plane crashes. With nanobots being injected into ANYTHING then anything becomes possible and usually when anything becomes possible then someone arrives on the scene that shouldn't be involved in the process of determining what is good and not good for the welfare of human beings.

I read that 300 BILLION nanobots can fit on the size of the period which ends this sentence.

I think I've got off point but every since that Neutrino story last week....things have been wacky and moving way too fast......and now I find out that 96% of the Universe is made up of energy and matter that we can't see.

I knew the figure was high but 96%????????????

?????????????????

??????????????

?????????????????????

And then Steve Jobs dies and a big bite is taken out of the Apple. I have a feeling that in his non-physical reality he will be enjoying some amazing interaction with both Dark Matter and Dark Energy.

Please keep in mind that Dark is not a negative word.....it's just dark.

Do you personally know anyone who has won a Nobel prize?

Can I get their cell phone number?

96%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The REAL baseball season starts NOW

Before I make my predictions on the World Series I need to wrap up a very unique Dodger season. And since this article is about baseball, all you nonunderstandingbaseballhaterswhocouldn't hitthecurveballorwereafraidoftheactualbaseball.....can now go do something else.

The Dodgers had one of their most interesting seasons in their wonderful history....but most of the interest was focused on off field events. Frank McCourt got more press than any player and it's not a good thing when the owner dominates the news. Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw tried to put the focus back between the lines but the fans just weren't interested in going to the games.

By lack of interest I am referring to attendance. I haven't seen the numbers yet but I'm sure this will turn out to be the worst attendance figures since coming to LA. Although most people blame the McCourt court scenes I think the economy played a major part and many people were quite happy to have a separate excuse to stay away....keeping in mind that a ball game for two can cost a few hundred dollars. It can be done for less but even a family of four in the nosebleed section can run $100 plus.

Donny Baseball finished his first year with a winning record and that's ok......but he's still a Yankee and I'm not sure the hardliner Dodger fans will ever accept him...just like they didn't really flip out over Joe Torre. It takes multiple World Series victories to swallow that Yankee tag and I'm not sure we'll see that in the near future.

I think the Dodger problems started when they didn't hire Mike Scioscia after he had been their Triple A manager in 1999.

You don't see the Yankees hiring Dodger legends and the same should apply here.

The real pain is when I jump ahead three years and have to see Clayton and Matt playing for the Yankees, Red Sox or Phillies......that's going to hurt. And it might explain why the fans are not going to the games. They realize that the Dodgers aren't in a position to spend the money to keep their best players so why bother to support someone that will soon belong to someone else?

To the positive side of the story.

Matt Kemp had one of the best offensive seasons ever by a Dodger. Obviously his break-up with Rihanna during the off season didn't affect his performance....unless the break-up was her idea and Matt decided to have a great season just to show who ruled the roost here in LA LAND.

2010 was a banner year for Matt Kemp's sex life and 2011 was a banner year for his baseball career. I wonder which one he wants to duplicate in 2012. I'm sure he'd like to have both but some people just can't pull it off.

Clayton Kershaw showed remarkable poise for a 23 year pitcher. It wasn't just the the fact that he won 21 games and led the league in ERA and strikeouts....it was the way he handled the media.
He says the right things because he seems to be having a great time and nothing appears overwhelming to him. Barring injuries he is a potential Hall of Fame candidate. Injuries are a big part of the process, so it's kind of silly to speculate on such nonsense.....but he has that kind of talent....both on and off the field.

NOW FOR THE PREDICTIONS OF POST SEASON PLAY.

My favorite World Series would be ARIZONA VS DETROIT. Since Arizona is managed by Kirk Gibson, who happens to have created the greatest moment in LA Dodger history, I see no reason not to root for them.....and since he was a star for Detroit then the whole thing makes sense.

In reality......Phillies vs. Yankees probably makes more sense.

I see something different than the obvious but then again I see a lot of things differently than most people.

Prediction.....

Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia

Phillies win in 6 games.......with Chase Utley MVP

Play Ball!

Faster than the speed of light?

A few years ago I was reading about neutrinos and their existence in relationship to what contributes to the laws of quantum physics. I did a small colored pencil drawing of what a neutrino would look like and it is a pleasant image to observe.

The latest news from CERN seems to imply that neutrinos are faster than the speed of light.

FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT!

THAT, SIMPLY PUT......CHANGES EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY....AND IF THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY IS INCORRECT THAN I SUGGEST YOU HOLD ON BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ABOUT TO CHANGE.

ONE CAVEAT......even though it's been three years since scientist first acknowledged the possibility of something being faster than light...they still need to do some additional testing.

But IF it turns out to be a reality than such silly things as time travel and space wrap movement throughout the universe.....will no longer be silly. It would instantly explain how beings from other galaxies come and go without being detected.

Molecular deconstruction followed by molecular reconstruction is the big one and if something is faster than light than the BIG ONE might actually be a possibility.

THE POSSIBILITIES BECOME ENDLESS IF ANYTHING IS FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF LIGHT.

Right now in Jamaica.....Mr. Bolt is trying to figure out to make a neutrino milk shake.

Albert Einstein, on the other hand, is calling bulls..t!

I'm just simply trying to watch it all unfold....but it's so damn quick.....I don't know where to look.......

here....there....everywhere.........faster than the speed of light!

WOW!

You know someone or you are someone

A new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals that drugs have now officially replaced auto accidents as a cause of death in the United States.

37,485 people died in 2009 from drug deaths compared to 36,284 caused by traffic accidents.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG DEATHS OUTNUMBER HEROIN AND COCAINE DEATHS COMBINED.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG DEATHS OUTNUMBER HEROIN AND COCAINE DEATHS.....COMBINED.

XANAX, VALIUM, ATIVAN, KLONOPIN, OXY CONTIN, PERCOCET, VICODIN, NORCO,DILAUDID, METHADONE are various forms of prescription drugs that are being consumed by someone you know or by you.

These drugs are being prescribed by doctors for various forms of insomnia, anxiety and whatever.

DEATHS CAUSED BY THE USE OF MARIJUANA ARE PROBABLY WAY DOWN THE LIST OF CAUSES......ACTUALLY IT IS PROBABLY THE LEAST DEATH CAUSING DRUG ON THE PLANET........and yet the voting majority seems to be hell bent on making sure pot is not legalized. I wonder how many people who vote against legalizing pot are actually taking one of the prescription drugs listed above?

Please keep in mind that alcohol and nicotine, which are both legal, cause more deaths than all the prescription and illegal drugs ever invented.

Alcohol causes around 75,000 deaths a year and estimates for deaths caused by smoking range from 250,00 to 650,000.....

2.5 million people die every year in America. Heart disease is the leader with around 700,000 and it's hard to determine how much heart damage is done by the use of alcohol and nicotine but all indications point to those two factors being huge contributors to troubles with the heart. Of course pot smoking cannot be good for the heart, or the lungs, but one usually does a lot less when toking out....usually.

Prescription drugs are another entire story. People are given these drugs by the most trusted person in their life......their family doctor.

You probably know and love someone who abuses their patient doctor relationship.

A secondary market of buying and trading prescription drugs is another entire part of this story that needs to be addressed. I'm not sure how one could ever determine the numbers involved....but I suspect it's a large percentage of the problem.

Pot seems so much less abusive than everything mentioned above....and even though I don't smoke pot anymore....I do remember how little it took to achieve a feeling of altered consciousness....and altering the consciousness seems to be the goal of any drug use.

It's amazing that extreme exercise, meditation and laughter can create the same affects and then afterwards all you want to do is drink some fresh cool water and have a nice meal.

Exercise, diet and prayer........can replace any type of drug.....but it takes a desire and an effort and popping a pill is a whole lot easier.

Easier seems to be the optimum word here. It might be the American way and if that's the case then a change must be addressed that focuses on altering a group consciousness........ a consciousness that is not working.

Good luck on that one pilgrim!

Lots of reminders and some football too

Yesterday was a abundance of remembering something most of us would like to forget but of course that's like trying to forget your own birthday. The older one gets.....the more one tries to ignore the inevitable. Of course there is an entire generation that doesn't have the images stuck in their mind except for what we feed them.

Some of the things we feed them include comparisons to Pearl Harbor, but when that happens it gives much too much credence to a band of extremists. Islamic suicide squads cannot be linked to a well armed country that was hell bent on controlling half of the world. I wonder how Germany and Japan would have gone about sharing the world if they had been victorious. I'm sure a war between those two would have taken place fairly soon after the end of WW ll. Talk about two crazy entities.

I'm pretty sure it was predetermined in the heavens that both those countries would get their asses kicked.

I'm really hoping that the same ass kicking will apply to any group of extremists who think that murder and suicide is an honorable experience.

And then after all the ceremonies were complete......... there were professional football games played where each and every one of the participants tried to knock the heads off of anybody not wearing their same uniform.

My team (RAMS) started off perfect and then everything went downhill. Not only did they lose but six of their most important players got hurt. Maybe they were just honoring the victims of 9/11 by becoming victims themselves.

I love it when professional athletes are giving and responsible.

Anyway....9/11 is behind us for another year, unless of course we had a family member taken that day....and then it's a forever hole that just sits there and hopefully gets slowly filled with love and wonderful human interactions. Some times the hole never gets any smaller and wonderful human interaction just doesn't take place.

And sometimes that's even sadder than the actual event which created the hole.

The American people seem to be a people that appear very capable of filling the hole....and for that I'm really thankful to be part of the experience....and again I feel very lucky to have been born in just such a place.

Now the real question is.......did I pick it or am I just a random accident?

I'd like to believe my true nature has something to do with where I am and who I want to be.

My true nature being.....the non-physical reality that has no time clock.

And that is really another subject for another day.

For now......have a nice 9/12....9/13......9/14....and on and on and on.......

CHECK THIS OUT

NASA just released a web site that lets you travel with their toys as those toys explore the solar system.

http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/eyes/

And while you are traveling make a note to contact your local, state and federal officals about the possible funding halt to the James Webb telescope that was intented to replace the Hubble and which is a 100 times more powerful.

Your quick simple letter, e-mail, text or twitter should read........

DO NOT LET THE FUNDING LASPE ON THE JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE.

In the meantime....have a nice trip with NASA.

Ten years and we've learned ???????

On September 11 2001 a group of Saudi nationals flew commercial jets into three different buildings. Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility on behalf of Al-Qaeda. It seems odd that we haven't even figured out the correct spelling for those crazy son's of bitches. Sometimes it's spelled Al-Qaida or al-queda and sometimes it's just spelled....nutcases.

I think we've learned a few things about Dick Cheney and George W. Bush but we really haven't learned why Islamic radicals have literally misinterpreted their sacred book....the Koran. Which by the way, can also be spelled Qur'an or Coran or Kuran or al-Qur'an. How are they suppose to interpret the content correctly when they can't even figure out one spelling?

The bible is spelled....B I B L E........

Now please don't interpret this as some better than thou religious comparison because when it comes organized religions I'm pretty sure controlling massive amounts of people is the main goal and when the main goal is to control massive amounts of people, then the true individual relationship with the creator becomes lost in the translation.

I reckon this piece I'm writing will cause some idiot to claim that I'm demeaning the prophet Muhammad.....which is another name that seems to have ten spellings.....and put a fatwa out on my head. I was thinking of buying a fatwa at the .99 store but they currently are sold out.

The real difference between the two big religions......one stopped killing people about 800 years ago. The other seems to be hell bent on killing anyone who doesn't accept Islam as the one true religion.

Christianity's history most definitely has some major character flaws....and Catholic priests have taken those flaws to a new level in the last 50 years. If the Pope simply reversed the no-marriage rule, which was established around 800 AD, then those goofy priest, who like little boys, would simply fade away like Frank McCourt should. Martin Luther tried to make it right for the home team in Rome but was forced to start his own branch of Christianity.

I keep wondering why Jews, the Christians and Islamic scholars all think that God only conversed with their organizations. That is the problem isn't it? Each one of them thinks that God stopped publishing with each of their books. Of course the Mormons and various other splinter groups disagree with that limited publishing theory, but who really cares what the Mormons think? Now that Mitt Romney will be seriously running for President maybe some questions can be answered regarding the history of his goofy religion. The Rick Perry televangelist campaign should also prove to be interesting if the reporters ask the right questions.

Somewhere during the next 12 months one of the religious right wing candidates will make a statement that truly puts the Holy War into proper perspective. Because no matter what you think....the radical Islamic players on the other side....totally believe this is the big one......

The Holy War....or Jihad

If one simply pauses for a second and imagines that An Entity exist that has managed to create an ever expanding universe that contains billions and billions of creatures, planets, suns, galaxies and one Reeese Witherspoon than it's fairly easy to see that love is at the core.....not war.

I can't understand why any human being would underestimate the very nature of such An Entity.

It doesn't make sense.

Logic and reason must not exist in the heart and mind of anyone who thinks GOD condones violence....but that's just my crazy observation.

A Creator is a Creator.

And the fact that A Creator exist....should simply be enough reason to say thank you and

I

Love

You

There is no place for thank you, I love you and now I want to kill you if you don't agree with me.

The moderate Islamic leaders and scholars need to become extremely vocal and they need to do it now! They need to talk about misinterpretations of certain written words.

If they don't...then the HOLY WAR will become a true reality.

I'm almost worried that there are too many people on both sides who want a Holy War to take place.

And that's what I've learned since 9/11/2001.

How about you?

Mahmoud should be careful

While certain factions, on both sides, are trying to establish a Palestinian state....certain other factions are simply trying to create havoc.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can't stop the bullshit rhetoric and all it does is cause tension. His latest quote regarding Israel was...."You have no place in our region and among our nations, and you will not be able to continue your ignominious life on even a small part of the Palestinian territories."

To say something like that is simply proof that he has no concept of history.

Jews have been a part of that region since......well, since the beginning of recorded history.

The Qur'an acknowledges Abraham and Moses as great Prophets.....where does Ahmandinejad think they lived......Miami Beach? Judaism was the first monotheistic religion and if not for that concept, Allah would be just be another of the multiple others worshiped by homo sapiens.

To say that Jews don't belong in that region is pretty much like saying Meatloaf isn't one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time.

What doesn't belong in that region is ignorance and intolerance....and the President of Iran seems to the leader of those two traits.

By the way the Qur'an limits the amount of wives a man can have to......four.

I don't know why I brought that up other than the fact that it just seems very odd....and is probably a fact that most people don't know.

I can't imagine how much information in the Qur'an is not known by the average Christian.

Maybe both sides should be required to read each other's books of fantasy.

In the meantime...the President of Iran should try taking a vow of silence....and let people who know what's going on reach an accord that will offer some semblance of peace to a region where everybody seems to belong.

My mom, Meredith Ann Mathews, would turn 89 today if she was still involved in a physical reality. That reality ended, as far as I know, in 1980. One always has to assume that reincarnation might happen instantly for some beings. There are so many options available when one considers the reality of reincarnation. In truth....the varied options of how non-physical reality might work is simply......... infinite.

I'd like to think she figured out how to try again but I also realize that each of us has our own contract and perhaps she just got tired of physical reality.

It can happen. And it can happen fast.

Kind of like a small wind blowing over the ocean and then suddenly elements combine and a new woman is created.

The new woman in town has a name and they call her..........IRENE.

She lives on the East Coast.

IRENE is about four days old and has managed to completely shut down New York City. Now that's a powerful chick with an extreme attitude.

It turns out that a few minutes ago at 10 AM EST....on Meredith Ann Mathew's birth date.....she has been downgraded to a storm. Hurricane Irene is now Storm Irene.

I hope that doesn't piss her off and give her impetus to re-energize herself.

Irene the storm just has a nicer ring to it.....but one has to remember storms don't get named, so in truth.....we must say goodbye to IRENE.

Lots of damage has been left behind...but for now NYC has seen the worst and survived.

My mom, as far as I know, had a physical reality from 1922 to 1980. She created some storms in her life and some storms found her but she managed to raise 3 children and hundreds of animals and people who knew her will always remember a very beautiful woman who liked to have a good time and also was President of the 4-H club when I was 8, 9 and 10 years old. And she might have been the biggest Frank Sinatra fan on the planet. She loved antiques and she loved her Boxer dogs........but mostly I think she just loved us....and when it comes to moms....what beter thing to think and say.

Happy Birthday Mom........say hi to Frank....and tell Irene to keep breathing.....in and out....in and out......relax.....keep getting calmer and calmer.

Maybe tooooooo much

I need to stop swearing on the golf course. The sound travels across the grass and kids and the religious right don't need to hear some freaking loud "F..K" interrupting their back swing or breaking their concentration while trying to putt.

The game's hard enough without crazy distractions.

On the other hand, I think there should be tournaments where people are allowed to yell during a back swing. Concentration is concentration and if done properly then no outside sound should interfere with the swing thought.

I only swear loudly four or five times during a round, but those moments, in which the harsh words come out, are simply a alternative to throwing my club in the lake.

One of the problems is that the course we play at is frequented by senior ladies and junior kids.

I suppose if I was playing Bel-Air I would receive a verbal reprimand from the President.....unless of course he was also a swearer.

Certain words have become regular parts of our daily language but I do realize that a large contingent of our population still cringes when they hear MotherF..ker and other commonly used dock worker and pro football terms.

Yesterday I was playing consistent golf until the 7th hole and then three huge F..ks bombs popped out on three consecutive shots.....I looked up after the last one and a gentleman I knew was on an enjoining tee and he was simply shaking his head.

I wonder why my father never says anything? He's 92 and has strong opinions on most subjects and I've never heard him swear. I think the Marine Corp trains you how to control that area of your brain.

I, on the other hand, only had the nuns making sure I toed the line and by the time I broke away from their control I was a swearing motherf..ker.

The game of golf demands a certain level of control...both mental and physically....that I obviously do not possess, even though yesterday I might have had the best shot of my life. A beautiful, extremely high, 110 yard lob wedge that landed one-half inch from the cup.

I think I said motherf..ker....but I think I whispered it.

From this day on I promise to make my verbal reactions on the extremely quiet side....or not at all. Which in turn means a six iron might end up wrapped around a certain pine tree on the 5th hole.

With my luck it might boomerang off the tree and hit me in the head.....or worst....hit my dad.

I'm working on some things.....ok?

The mall not attended

I've been to a lot of malls in my life but for some strange reason I've missed the only one that really counts.

The National Mall doesn't have a department store or a jewelry store or 16 movie theaters but it does have the one thing which truly matters.....

IT HAS THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.

I feel rather silly for not having made the ultimate mall trip.

Thanks to Google Earth I can virtually take the trip.

My recommendation to you......if indeed you haven't done it yet.......is take the actual trip and make sure you spend plenty of time in the various museums.

And then stop by the Capitol Building and tell them to wake the f..k up!

I hear the best time to go is in late September or early October.

Have a nice trip.

The new Texas good ole boy

It looks like the 2012 election might be between a sitting President and a good ole boy from Texas named Rick Perry. We haven't seen one debate between Rick and Mitt but I have a feeling that the mood of the conservative voter in this country....will be wanting to elect a good looking right wing white Christian politician from the state of Texas.

It seems we've been down that road before....and Rick Perry might make GW look like a Rhodes Scholar.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's a lot more fun to be on the offense than on the defense.....as we've noticed by all the varied attacks on Mr. Obama......so I'll start the ball rolling by repeating something Mr. Perry said the other day.

"Global Warming is a contrived phony mess that is failing apart under its own weight."

I have a strange feeling that this is just the first of many things Mr. Perry will say that in turn will cause us to say......HUH?

This next presidential election will probably be one of the most contentious in the history of our great country.

I can't wait.

Let the games begin......

My guess is that your guess is way wrong

Stop for a second and take a guess on the percentage of how much money you spend on goods and services from China.

Your guess?

************

I asked someone earlier today and they said 80%.

That would be 77.5% WRONG.

Your consumption, as a United States consumer, of goods and services from China ads up to a whopping........
2.7%

2.7!

Obviously if you spend all your time buying toys and socks from Wal-Mart and shopping at the .99 Store, than you might have a higher percentage in your household. But in reality when you consider what you spend your money on....then indeed Chinese items are pretty far down the list of importance.

Think about your mortgage, rent, car payment, auto and health insurance, food, mechanics, haircuts, ball games, gasoline, utilities and entertainment......and it's easy to see why it's only 2.7% Chinese.

We then sell our Treasury notes to China and thus there is an imbalance on how much debt is incurred. China holds 26% of all foreign held U.S. Treasury securities....which has grown considerably from the 6% they held in 2000.

WE ARE OBVIOUSLY A GREAT INVESTMENT FOR CHINA.....I think.

If they decide to cash those Treasury notes then a different problem might arise. A problem that I don't wish to think about at the present moment. Selling them to Japan or Great Britain or Brazil might be ok but I truly don't know enough to offer a reasonable answer.

It just makes me want to play more golf.

Anyway.....2.7% of Made-in-China is all that we have floating around our lives....and yes that adds up to a tidy sum of money but nowhere near your original guess.

Am I right?

Where's the GOLD ceiling?

With all the recent volatile stock market activity one thing appears constant. Stocks go down, Gold goes up. Stocks go up, Gold goes down. I think I could buck that trend by simply purchasing some gold bullion. At that point it would tumble back to reality, which might be in the $1000 an ounce range, and life would be back to normal.

With everything going on in the world financial markets I guess the real question is.......Is there a normal and is there a proven structure that creates harmony and calm for most of the 6 billion inhabitants of our beautiful planet?

AT THIS POINT IN TIME.........PROBABLY NOT!

Today Gold is $1773.00 an ounce. That Rolex watch your granddad left you 20 years ago is now worth 80% more than it was one year ago. On August 10 2010 Gold was $1200. In 2007 it was $600. The gold filings inside your mouth are now part of your portfolio.

Jewelry stores are suddenly becoming buyers and not sellers.
Watch stores are busy for the wrong reasons.

I think there needs to be a consistent value of Gold for calmness to exist....and that consistent value should be around $1000 an ounce.

Of course Gold fever is one of the oldest known fever's on the market and history clearly shows that people have truly gone nuts over the chance to possess the shinning mineral.

Would you rather own five ounces of Gold or five shares of Apple stock?

The pundits say.....get 2 ounces of gold, 2 shares of Apple, a few Muni's, one Treasury note and keep the rest in cash.

I think most people are just trying to pay their mortgages and their rent and keep food on the table. The optimum word is MOST. It's obviously a numbers game and when you have 300 million people in a country than most likely 30 million are going to be doing extremely well during any period of time.

The problem appears to be that 1% seems to have accumulated 90% of the wealth. That's 3 million not 30 million.....and those 3 million people are laughing and looking for second homes and trying to figure out how to avoid any tax liability.

The statistics on this problem are extremely close to the statistics of 1928. An imbalance of have and have not's is a bad thing for a free enterprize system.......actually it's a bad thing for any system.

Let's get something straight.....I think wealth is good and in our scio-economic political system...it's the thing that drives the bus. But the bus is full of passengers and those passengers can't all drive their own bus. The wealthiest people tell you that it's possible for everyone to drive their own bus but that's because they discovered some method that helped them buy a bus.

Not everyone can figure out how to own their own bus so they end up with a nice used car that holds four or five family members. And each one of those family members wishes they were driving the car......except of course for great grandma and grandpa who just don't like to drive anymore because people just won't get out of the way.

Of course then there's the people who are riding the bus because that's the only way to get around.

Do you think any of those people riding the bus give a rat's ass that Gold is $1733 an ounce?

270 Million people have no ability to buy gold at $1733 an ounce.

30 million can get a few ounces and 3 million people can do whatever the fuck they want.

If you are one of those 3 million people than you need to realize that Gold should be around $800 to $1000 an ounce. And you need to realize that people should not be starving anywhere on the Planet and you need to realize that it can all go away if more people don't participate in learning how to drive the bus....even if they can't own one.

The Middle Class appears to be shrinking and that's the worst thing that can happen to the United States of America.

An imbalance of wealth and a reduction of the Middle Class is a formula for disaster.

I think America has the fortitude and the moxie to figure out the solution. I think America will discover how to reintroduce manufacturing and service sector jobs to the American public....and do it within our borders.

I just thing it's who we are.

But I think Gold needs to calm way down......just like oil needs to be around $60 a barrel....Gold needs to be under a $1000.

Everything seems chaotic when oil is over a $100 and Gold is approaching $2000.......

Maybe everything is just basically chaotic in and of itself. In that case.......ouch!

Stock prices are based on human successes and failures.........Gold prices are based on ???????

How far is ???????? going to take Gold?

$5000?

God help us if that happens!

Cost, cutting and THE REAL PROBLEM

Now that the Debt Ceiling has been raised and both parties have agreed to some form of compromise.....we can begin to learn what they did and didn't do. It will take time to sort out all the details but it appears that the wealthy and corporuptions are once again protected. The raising of additional revenue through tax increases appears to be off the table. I'll repeat it one more time. GENERAL ELECTRIC PAID NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES IN 2010.

There will be cuts in the Military Budget but how much is still to be determined.

In 2010 the military budget was $685 BILLION. That does not include the cost of operating two military events in Iraq and Afghanistan. That separate expenditure cost $171 BILLION in 2010.

The estimate of the two war fronts since 2001 is $1,291 TRILLION.

The question being put forth by those who support American Wyatt Earp operations around the globe is......

WHO DO YOU WANT POLICING THE PLANET OTHER THAN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

The answer from the opposite side of the fence is.....

AREN'T THERE ENOUGH CONSCIENTIOUS COUNTRIES ON THE PLANET TO SHARE THAT INTENSE RESPONSIBILITY?

I realize that conscientious countries might be a vague term but if you apply freedom, logic, compassion, harmony, charity and wealth than you can easily name multiple players that fall under the heading of possessing a higher level of conscientiousness. Obviously there are some countries that have wealth but appear to be lacking in the other categories.

What WE seem to be doing with our current budget fiasco is attacking the less fortunate...which goes against the grain of why we are one of the good guys.

WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT 12 MILLION PEOPLE ARE STARVING IN REFUGE CAMPS IN SOMALIA AND NOBODY SEEMS INTERESTED, THEN YOU START TO QUESTION THE BASIC MORAL FIBER OF ALL COUNTRIES.

Why can't we drop sacks of grain and rice right in the middle of those camps? Why can't we deliver millions of bottles of water to those camps?

WHY CAN'T MASSIVE LARGE CORPORATIONS PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAX?
WHY CAN'T PENSIONS BE CONSTRUCTED SENSIBLY?
WHY CAN'T PROSPEROUS COUNTRIES SHARE IN THE COST OF FIGHTING TERRORISM?
HOW DO POLITICANS MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHILE IN PUBLIC OFFICE?
WHY CAN'T WELFARE FRAUD BE CONTROLLED?
WHY CAN'T OIL RICH DESERT COUNTRIES DO GREAT THINGS FOR HUMANITY INSTEAD OF JUST BUILDING RIDICULOUS TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND BUYING RACE HORSES.

There are so many questions to be asked and so many not to be answered, and if I were to make a wild guess I would think all the current Budget Bullshit is simply a ploy by two similar political parties to take our focus off the target.

THE REAL TARGET THAT IS PREVENTING AN ECONOMIC RECOVERY FROM TAKING PLACE......

HOW DO YOU REPLACE MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE SECTOR JOBS THAT HAVE SHIPPED TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN ORDER TO REDUCE EXPENDITURES AND INCREASE PROFITS?

It's like a slight of hand card trick and nobody seems to have an answer on how it's suppose to work.

In the meantime....The Global Community (and that means everyone) needs to focus on 12 million starving and dying people in Africa....and they need to focus
TODAY!

A REAL TIME EFFORT TO HELP REPAIR A PLANET THAT SEEMS TO HAVE LOST IT'S WAY ON THE ROAD TO THE NEXT HIGHER STAGE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION. (it will happen with or without you and me but it's nice to be involved in the process don't you think?)

BUT INSTEAD WE HAVE BUDGET BULLSHIT TO DIVERT OUR FOCUS!

JUST TAKE A SMALL PORTION OF THAT MILITARY BUDGET AND SEND RICE, GRAN AND WATER TO AFRICA...AND THEN USE OUR WYATT EARP GLOBAL MENTALITY TO MAKE OTHER WEALTHY COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE IN THE ENDEAVOR.

EVERYONE WILL FEEL BETTER!

TODAY WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO START

NOW
WOULD BE
EVEN
BETTER!

2012 Olympics are just one year away

The 2012 London Olympic time table............ begins now.

The United States swim team with Michael, Ryan and Missy just won 16 Gold Medals at the World Championships in Shanghai.

The interesting side note is that Michael Phelps wasn't the ultimate star of the meet....that belonged to Ryan Lochte. What it probably did is make Michael want to prove one last time that he is the greatest swimmer of all time. It's not like he didn't win a bunch of medals but he didn't break any world records, which is going to be harder since the magical swim suit ban went into affect a few months ago.

Ryan could do what Michael did three years ago but he will have to go through Michael to do it and that will not prove to be an easy task.

Missy Franklin is the new female star and she's only 19.

The London Olympics 2012 should prove to be a great event.....but then again I've never met an Olympics that I didn't love.

The track stars are next up for the World Championships in South Korea in late August.

Good time to make your reservations for London. Surprise someone you love and sail across the pond for the Summer Olympics. I just saw a Louis Vuitton trunk for $20,000 at the Santa Monica Place. Order yours and plan the trip of a lifetime.

I could actually stow away in the trunk.

Wrong groupings

Medicare and Social Security are not entitlement programs and they should not be linked with welfare and other social programs when talking about giveaways.

The abuse of the welfare system is legendary and yet no one in public office ever tries to expose the abuse or point out exactly how much money is being wasted. The layers are so excessive that the programs within the programs have become firewalls of abuse...... Apparently impenetrable from the outside.

I just heard a story this morning from a neighbor about a young white couple from Santa Monica. The story was a personal one because the girl is my neighbors niece. They are expecting their third child in a few months. Neither one of them works and they are both healthy. He is 22 and she is 21. They live with their grandmother in a home that is owned by grandma.

They receive $2400 a month from the welfare office and $700 worth of food stamps. There is a program within a program that sends them a $150 gift card from Target every month. They also receive an hour of free couple's therapy each week.

I fully understand the concept of social programs to help the needy and disenfranchised. What I don't understand is why investigations are not done on a regular basis and why, when somebody is receiving welfare benefits, they aren't also receiving free mandatory job training.

The 22 year man just bought an X-box with his Target card.

My neighbor has decided to write a book about the welfare programs and the programs within the programs that completely discourage young healthy people from seeking employment.

How hard would it be to employ young social workers to investigate cases in person instead of sitting in an office and writing down whatever an applicant tells them? It doesn't make any sense if the answer is .....we can't afford it. Hiring 5000 state social workers to investigate fraud would eventually save the state billions of dollars....every year.

And I'm only talking about California........multiple that by 49 more states and the problem becomes egregious and enormous.

Social Security and Medicare always get poured into the debate concerning entitlements. Again they are not entitlements and they should be left out of any debate concerning the welfare system problems. I can see restructuring the Social Security guidelines and perhaps offering young people a chance to control their own money but that's an entirely different matter.

I read the other day that Federal revenue, as a share of the overall economy, is at it's lowest level since 1950. The article was by Ronald Brownstein, senior editor at the National Journal.

HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?

I will investigate that point and get back to you later.

In the meantime...let's find out why abuse of the welfare system is not a focus of political interest....and let's stop grouping Social Security and Medicare together with programs that are freebies.

Social Security and Medicare are not handouts.

Debt Ceiling and Deficit

Yesterday I referred to the deficit in a way that made it seem the same as the debt ceiling. After researching the subject a bit further it appears, in truth, that the debt ceiling has nothing to do with the budget and our massive deficit.

The two issues are separate and Republicans are using the budget expenditures to negotiate an increase in the debt ceiling....and Obama is participating in the negotiation by offering future cuts in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

And then there are 87 freshman Republicans, many who claim to be in office because of The Tea Party, who claim not to be interested in being re-elected. That puts a group of people in political offices who don't really care about their political future....and while that might prove worthwhile in the long run, it also might prove disastrous in the short term. Many, if not all of those 87, say that will not vote for a increase in the debt ceiling unless the Obama Care health plan is eliminated. Actually that might be Michele Bachmann who said that, but she is a Tea Party leader....is she not?

Much of the debate also seems to be centered on increased taxation for the wealthy. What I don't hear enough about is how to close loop holes for Corporruptions. Just a reminder/ General Electric paid no corporate taxes in 2010......ZERO!

I suspect that wealthy individuals don't want their taxes raised....but at least they can deal with it.....without missing a rent or mortgage payment, forfeiting a meal or missing a doctor's appointment.

THE IDEA OF PENALIZING PEOPLE WHO ARE RECEIVING SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND MEDICAID IS SIMPLY RIDICULOUS.

GENERALLY THESE PEOPLE ARE OLDER, POORER AND UNHEALTHIER.

I fully agree that spending is out of control but I keep looking toward our involvement in other parts of the world and can't understand why the cost of participating in nation building in places where we don't belong......never becomes part of the budget dialogue.

I suspect that the debt ceiling issue will dominate our news in the next 30 days.

I hope the American public takes an interest in the battle and I hope we all learn a bit more about political maneuvering and political bullshit.

IT'S QUITE HARD TO TELL ONE FROM THE OTHER.

But taking money away from the disenfranchised , the elderly and the sickly people of this country is not a solution to over spending....and if you think it is then you are most likely a proud member of the Republican Party.

IS IT REALLY A PARTY WHEN THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE TARGETED ARE THE POOREST PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY? Sounds more like a slow execution.

There shall be more on the DEBT CEILING because it will get uglier and uglier before August 2nd.

Deficit and other strange occurances

I read somewhere that the war costs are not part of the deficit numbers....which means that the spending has really gotten crazy since Bill Clinton left office.

Social Security recipients have not had a cost of living increase in two years.....which is odd because gas, food and energy costs have spiked in the last two years.

The debt ceiling is such a strange term when you know that it can be adjusted according to who has the most votes.

I think the American public has lost confidence in both parties and that's why groups like the Tea Party can get representation in the House and the Senate. It's important to know that they don't have multiple seats in either chamber.

We give $2 billion dollars a year to Pakistan for their military operations. HUH?

Republicans failed yesterday to overturn the LIGHT BULB ACT which would eliminate 100 watt incandescent bulbs by next January.

The problem is everybody wants to replace them with mercury filled fluorescent bulbs and they never mention LIGHT EMITTING DIODES or LEDs.

A special shout out to the American babes running around in Germany trying to win another World Cup.

Peaches are currently 77 cents a pound. It won't last long. Enjoy.

THE TOTAL COST OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM SINCE 1981
$192 BILLION

THE TOTAL COST OF THE WAR PROGRAM IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN SINCE 1991
$3.7 TRILLION

THE POWERS TO BE HAVE DECIDED TO END THE PROGRAM THAT LIFTS OUR SPIRITS AND KEEPS US DREAMING OF A BIGGER AND BRIGHTER FUTURE.

THOSE SAME POWERS ARE KEEPING THE PROGRAM THAT MAKES MANY OF US FEEL LIKE

I think it makes me feel like the planet is still inhabited by a large contingent of Cro-Magnum and Neanderthals...................................but that's just me.

I'd love to hear how the wars make you feel.

But 3.7 Trillion vs 3.7 Billion

First step is ending with Atlantis

In 1962 a young vibrant President of the United States made a pledge that lifted our eyes toward the heavens in ways that we never considered. Not only did he say that America would go to the moon within the decade but he opened space travel for the first time.

Space Travel........leads to planet hopping which leads to alternative places to live long after our sun ceases to exist....which means the human species will forever be a part of the universe.

THE JUMP FROM ONE TRIP TO THE MOON TO LIVING IN ANOTHER GALAXY, ON ANOTHER PLANET, IS A HUGE JUMP.....BUT IT'S THE JUMP THAT OUR IMAGINATIONS TOOK WHEN PRESIDENT KENNEDY MADE THAT PROMISE.

Every single person that has worked on the space program since 1962 has had a larger goal than simply going to the moon and circling the earth.

The goal of making sure the human species survives is a goal that should exist inside every human being on the planet. Maybe it just sits quietly inside a small chamber of a portion of the brain not being used on a regular basis. It's part of us and although practical matters, such as food, rent, sunblock and love take a much larger role in our awareness.....IT IS THERE.

THE SPACE SHUTTLE has been intricate to feeding that goal even though most of us have never had anything to do with it and 90% of the population has never even seen a launch in person.

Tomorrow at 7:26 PST, weather permitting, the last United States sponsored Space Shuttle......ATLANTIS....will blast off and an era will end.

Private enterprise will assume the responsibility of taking mankind to destinations far beyond our present reach. It might take 20 or 30 years but we will resume our quest to make sure that we have another place to call home before our sun literally bakes all of our liquid. By all practical matters we only have about a billion years left so we better keep busy.

I realize that as you try to figure out where to make dinner reservations all of this seems rather silly.

Which brings this thought process around to

NEO-ILLUMINATION # 22

"the universe has a system of order and chaos

the human experience is a tangent of that system

which both

establishes order

and

creates chaos

belief systems directly lead to chaos

acceptance with investigation and introspection creates more order

the mysteries of the universe will always outnumber the known realities

and chaos will forever exist

our job simply might be

to avoid

extinction"

ALL HAIL

ATLANTIS.......

Back in Black

I haven't written an "article" since the 23rd because that subject is so important I wanted it to have front page status for as long as possible.

It was reported yesterday that after three years of losing money, The Vatican turned a profit in 2010. Donations were down $15 million which is 18% of their normal take....but with cost cutting maneuvers they were able to move back into black.

Some of the cost cutting maneuvers consisted of turning over thousands of customers in Northern Africa to Islam and refusing to participate in the Haiti recovery which just happens to be 90% Catholic.

Pope John Paul II started the revealing of profit and loss statements in 1981 to debunk the rumor that the Vatican was wealthy.

In 2010 The Vatican only made a profit of $14.3 million.

The Catholic Church continues to be one of the largest land owners in the world and I would venture to guess that the value of relics and antiquities owned by the church might total in the billions of dollars.

I'm fairly certain that the Catholic Church is wealthy. Healthy is another question.

If a new Crusade isn't in the works than I will assume that all of Africa will eventually be Islamic and all those years of missionary work on that continent will be for naught.

I still think THEY could recover some grace by deciding to build 100 churches in Haiti and put every single person to work on that side of the island.....WITH THE END RESULT BEING A CATHOLIC CHURCH TOURIST ATTRACTION.

CALL IT......................THE ISLE OF CHURCHES

IMAGINE BUILDING 100 CHURCHES WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT STYLES EVER CONCEIVED IN THE PAST AND NEW CONTEMPORARY STYLES.

The people of the island, men, women and children, could be employed for the next 25 years. ...and it could all be financed by the sale of church BLING.

Within a few months donations would pour into the confers because people would see the upside potential for rebuilding Haiti and helping those people create a new future.

THE ISLE OF CHURCHES would be such a big tourist attraction that they might have to build another airport......not to mention hundreds of hotels and restaurants.

THE PRESENT POPE COULD GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE MODERN RELIGIOUS WALT DISNEY.

I first came up with this idea over a year ago....but so far nothing has taken hold. I need to call the Pope. Does anybody have his cell phone number?

Have a safe and Happy Birthday America.
