Universities Switch to LED Lighting to Help Save Energy, Reduce Costs and Protect the Environment.

Tuesday April 22, 10:00 am ET Cree Announces LED University Program With North Carolina State University, Marquette University, University of California At Santa Barbara, University of Arkansas and Tianjin Polytechnic University

DURHAM, N.C., April 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Cree, Inc. (NasdaqGS:CREE - News), a leader in LED (light-emitting diode) lighting, announces the launch of the LED University(tm) program, an international community of universities working to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient LEDs. In addition to evaluating, promoting and deploying LED lighting, the community of universities plans to work toward increasing energy savings, protecting the environment, reducing maintenance costs and providing a better light quality for improved visibility and safety.
Inaugural participant North Carolina State University along with Marquette University, University of California at Santa Barbara, University of Arkansas and Tianjin Polytechnic University in China have committed to evaluating and deploying LED lighting in areas such as offices, dormitories, parking garages, walkway lighting and streets across their campus infrastructures.
Each of the participating universities is conducting LED lighting pilots to determine the cost and environmental benefits of switching to LED lighting in campus applications.

A QUOTE FROM ONE OF THE PRINCIPALS AT CREE

"We recently participated in the biannual light and building trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, where LED lightening was featured prominently throughout the trade event, and our XLamp LEDs were widely recognized as the gold standard for power LEDs and lighting. Despite the high profile of LEDs at this lightening event, it was interesting to note that the large traditional suppliers still seemed to be trying the downplay of the timing of LED lightening adoption, which we see as a great opportunity for Cree."

"The large traditional suppliers still seemed to be trying the downplay of the timing of LED lighting adoption......"

AND THE CONSPIRACY THEORY AGAINST GE AND PHILIPS CONTINUES TO GAIN STRENGTH AND IT'S NOT SOME WACKO FROM A START UP TALKING....IT'S A BIGWIG AT CREE.

LEDs ARE THE IMMEDIATE ANSWER TO SOLVING MANY OF THE ENERGY PROBLEMS BEING FACED IN THIS COUNTRY and ON THE PLANET.

THEY CAN'T REPLACE EVERY TYPE OF LIGHT BUT THERE ARE NUMEROUS LIGHT SOURCES THAT CAN BE REPLACED
NOW

AND LEDs CONTAIN NO MERCURY

IT'S TIME FOR AMERICA TO WAKE UP AND WE CAN'T WAIT FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC AND PHILIPS TO GIVE THE APPROVAL.

INVESTIGATE AND START MAKING THE CHANGE....it's just a light bulb....it ain't brain surgery.
