COMPARISONS

"If we cannot muster the resolve to defeat this evil in Iraq, America will have lost its moral purpose in the world and we will endanger our citizens," the president said. "If we leave Iraq before the job is done, the enemy will follow us here.

"The consequences of imposing such a specific and random date of withdrawal would be disastrous," Bush said in a speech at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association meeting. "Our enemies in Iraq would simply have to mark their calendars. They'd spend the months ahead plotting how to use their new safe haven once we were to leave. It makes no sense for politicians in Washington, D.C. to be dictating arbitrary time lines for our military commanders in a war zone 6,000 miles away."

His arrogance was founded upon his imagined intellectual superiority. With the growth of his power during the war years it grew to be open megalomania, until ultimately the violence of his will was expressed in outright tyranny. Invoking the laws of war, he made himself master over the life and death of all. Anyone who did not obey his orders without question was branded a defeatist or saboteur.

Brutal intimidation was for him the highest political wisdom, the supreme principle of government in politics, in justice and in war. He would hear no objections and fell into a fury against anyone who recommended consideration and common sense. "Hard" men enjoyed his respect; humane, "soft" people were never in his favor. Characteristically, he made favorites of the very men who were hated by the people.

He deliberately trampled upon the feeling of humanity. Feelings are a tremendous force in the life of nations and in the existence of individual men. Injured, they give rise to passion and fanaticism. Whoever violates them will in the end be defeated by them. He was a master at mobilizing the feelings of other nations against himself. He did everything he could to repel them, nothing to win their liking. His complete lack of sensitivity to the psychology of other nations was always incomprehensible to me.

the Red section was said yesterday by President George W. Bush after learning of the senate's vote on funding for Iraq.....which by the way they approved by issuing a deadline for leaving Iraq. Which, if read very carefully, is a TENTATIVE DEADLINE....AND CAN BE ALTERED WITH A NEW QUICK VOTE.....AT ANYTIME.

The Green sections are excerpts from a book written by Dr.Otto Dietrich while in prison in 1946. The book was released in 1955.

From 1931 to 1945 Dr. Otto Dietrich was Adolf Hitler's Press Chief or as commonly referred to today as Press Secretary.

I did not start to write this column with the intention of making a comparison between these two vastly different people. But the other day while reading this book, which is the first and last book I will ever read about Hitler, and please note I would never read Mien Bitch or whatever it was called, under any circumstances, but this was found in an old collection and I simply started looking at it because a book by a Press Secretary probably had insights that others didn't know, and while reading came across the above descriptions that for some reason stuck in my mind, as I started to write.

I started this column with the intention of making a COMPARISON between Iraq and Vietnam because the PULL-OUT, BLOODBATH, CAN'T DO THAT TO THE PEOPLE situation keeps being brought up....by people of immense power and influence.

NORTH VIETNAM knew who and where the PEOPLE of South Vietnam were....and the bloodbath which took place obviously wasn't enough of a bloodbath to keep us from re-establishing relationships with Vietnam....today. Industry is starting to flourish in Vietnam and American manufacturers are making inroads to helping with that process.

IN IRAQ........WHO EXACTLY IS GOING TO CONDUCT THE BLOODBATH?

THE SHIITE'S?
THE SUNNI'S?

There is NO FREAKIN WAY ON EARTH that some other force such as AL QUEDA will be able to impose their will on this country.

WHO EXACTLY IS GOING TO CONDUCT THE BLOODBATH?

THE SHIITE'S?
THE SUNNI'S?

GUESS WHAT? THAT'S WHAT IS ALREADY HAPPENING. AND OUR TROOPS, BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, JUST SEEM TO BE A SIDE TARGET.

The country has over twice as many Shiite's as they do Sunni's. That's the reason Saddam was nutty. He was controlling the majority and that takes a concentrated effort with a strong upper hand....or a wonderful personality that everybody loves....which I don't think he had, but then of course there was those two lovable characters Odey and Suday, or whatever his son's names were.

AT THIS POINT IN TIME....THE PEOPLE HAVE HELD AN ELECTION AND THERE IS A GOVERNMENT IN PLACE....THERE IS AN ARMY, TRAINED BY AMERICANS, AND THERE IS A POLICE FORCE. Now from what I've read about the police force that could be a problem, but corruption within police departments has always been a problem.

WHO ARE WE FIGHTING AGAINST, THAT THE IRAQI FORCES WOULDN'T BE FIGHTING AGAINST?

When we left Vietnam we knew that the South Vietnam soldiers were defeated. Many of them had already stopped fighting. Many of the people of South Vietnam had left to open dry cleaners and nail salons in America.

IF WE LEFT IRAQ.......WHO WOULD BE CONDUCTING THE BLOODBATH?

I just don't see the comparison and what's really weird is that the comparison between the RED and GREEN sections above seem to have more elements of commonality.

I will not say that George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler should even remotely be compared but the ARROGANCE
DISREGARD and
OUR NATION ABOVE ALL OTHERS, NO MATTER WHAT.....

.....does have a slight ring of commonality.
I am not delusional regarding the insanity of the greatest lunatic that might have ever walked this planet....vs a modern day President of the United States who is still suffering from 9/11 shock.....just like the rest of us I might add, but I think we need to address certain elements that need to be controlled before anything gets way out of hand.
I think WAR GAMES in the Persian Gulf to intimidate IRAN is a slight getting out of hand gesture that could be the prequel to some other action.
Russia is building the Nuclear Reactors in Iran and I'm fairly certain they aren't contributing to the process of having weapons instead of energy. Russia doesn't have another agenda.....do they?
I presume that the above statement is an entirely new column.
By the way.....IT'S OUR FAULT THAT ANYONE THINKS NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS ARE THE ANSWER TO ONE'S ENERGY PROBLEMS.
OUR FAULT.......BECAUSE WE ARE THE LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD AND WE'VE FAILED TO SHOW THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES SAFE AND HEALTHY MEANS TO ENERGY SOLUTIONS.
I just keep wondering why no comparisons have started when looking at Jimmy Carter vs. George W. Bush. "They" always used to say that the job was much too big for Jimmy.....but I'm pretty sure that being President of the United States of America is WAY TOO FREAKIN LARGE FOR......JR.
The terrorists will strike again in America........and they aren't not striking because of our involvement in Iraq......they are not striking because it takes time to arrange an action. The 9/11 tragedy took 8 years to plan and execute.
Does anyone in Washington really think that INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC TERRORISTS are hiding in small houses behind Moqtada al-Sadr's compound? Does anyone really think that fanatic fundamentalists that have ties to Osama Bob Ladin are exchanging gun fire in the suburbs of Baghdad?
TIME TO WAKE UP AND FOCUS ON THAT PART OF THE MEXICAN BORDER TOWN, WHERE ANYBODY CAN SIMPLY WALK ACROSS....AND PROBABLY ALREADY HAVE....ACCORDING TO CERTAIN HOMELAND SECURITY REPORTS.
THAT'S THE FREAKIN PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.....not who is going to kill who....once we leave Iraq.
ARE WE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INTERRUPT THE ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES BY THOSE WHO CAN HIT US?
IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE THE CASE.
I really think the job is too big for the man and his focus is 6000 miles away because DICK tells him where to focus. There are places in HIS home state that anyone can enter the United States.....and if Crawford, Texas was on the border you can bet your ass no one would ever get past.
I don't want to compare Bush to some evil tyrant from 60 years ago....but I would like to compare him to Bill Clinton, George Senior, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and even Richard Nixon.
HE DOESN'T FIT WITH THOSE NAMES. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. AND WHEN ONE KNOWS HOW MUCH JIMMY CARTER HAS DONE FOR THE WORLD, SINCE LEAVING OFFICE......THERE IS NO COMPARISON IN THE HUMANITY OF THOSE TWO MEN.
BUT YET WE ALLOW HIM TO MAKE DECISIONS BECAUSE HE KNEW HOW TO SCARE US, BECAUSE WE WERE ALREADY SCARED FROM 9/11.
Instead of taking all the energy and going after Osama Boob Laden, he chose to go some where else...that just happened to be somewhere, where he thought some one had gotten away with murder in 1991.
"A STICK UP HIS ASS" is the expression that comes to mind.
THERE IS NO COMPARISON TO BE MADE BETWEEN VIETNAM AND IRAQ....AND I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP TRYING TO MAKE ONE.
THERE ARE OTHER MUCH MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES CONCERNING THE WAR ON TERROR, THEN THE CONCERN OF WHO WILL SURVIVE IN IRAQ.
IRAQ will be controlled by the Iraqi government.....we helped install that government and now it's time for that body to step up to the plate and hit the freakin ball.
THERE WAS NO GOVERNMENT IN PLACE WHEN WE LEFT VIETNAM....IT HAD BEEN DISMANTLED AND DEFEATED.
STOP TRYING TO MAKE COMPARISONS.
