Election 2008

12-11-06

Having been a member of the Democratic Party for my entire adult life I admit to not voting democratic on certain occasions. On those special times I have chosen to support the Green Party candidate and on a very rare occasion have voted for a member of the Peace and Freedom party.
I can honestly say that I’ve never voted for a Republican…..and most likely…..never will.
Now, there have been Propositions that were supported by the Republican Party that have indeed received my vote…..once in awhile.
I am stating the above facts before I mention the non-mentionable word….yes, yes, yes I am a LIBERAL.
Now that 49 % of you have stopped reading this article…we can get down to business.
The business at hand centers on the two most viable presidential candidates for the Democratic nomination in 2008.
THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF….even though as I unfold the information one might regard this as a humor piece. Please do not compartmentalize this information into the nonsense sections of your brain….simply because of the absurdly of the content. The simple truth exists that when someone walks into a voting booth no one else, except that person, really knows why a selection is made for one person or another. It’s a lot like a Swing Thought in golf. Unless the person swinging the club reveals their exact Swing Thought, and often times they can’t even remember, we have no ideas what was going through their mind.
The absolute reasons that someone won’t vote for someone as President of the United States can only be determined by the history of Presidential elections. As far as I can tell since 1776 the following human beings have not been elected President…or for that matter, have not even come close to being elected….or when one really looks close….have not even been remotely considered to be a viable candidate.

1) A WOMAN
2) AN AFRICAN AMERICAN
3) A PERSON BORN IN ANOTHER COUNTRY
4) AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN
5) A MORMON
6) AN HISPANIC
7) AN ASIAN
8) A HNIDU
9) A MUSLIM
10) A BUDDHIST

Now if one examines the list then one can see that we have a problem with the upcoming election. What the problem is, centers on the simple fact that lots of verbiage will be expended regarding certain people who are members of the above list….and then when push comes to shove and that moment to punch the little chad appears…..suddenly cold feet develop…sweat appears on the brow….tradition rears it’s ugly head, and wham thank you mam….the vote goes to the candidate that does not belong to the above list but does belong to the type of list that consists of the previous 43 Presidents.
One of the ridiculously sad side-bars to the election is that no one with a name that rhymes with Osama….or sounds like Osama…..will ever get elected President of the United States. Combine the name problem with the African American problem and you can wrap that puppy up and stick him under the tree…..he’s finished…..cooked…..done.
Keep in mind that exact moment of punching the chad…..forget all the hop law leading up to the moment.
THE MOMENT OF THE PUNCHING OF THE CHAD is the only moment that counts and I defy anyone to look at the historical records of our presidential elections and reach any other conclusion.
The above list consists of only 10 TYPES of people. I am sure that one could elaborate on that list without too much effort. The top two positions on the list are the ones that concern me the most. The bottom four on the list will never have a glimpse of the big prize and number three on the list would require a amendment to the constitution, and while that might be feasible sometime in the future, I don’t think it’s going to happen in the next 24 months……but I’ve learned to never underestimate Arnie.

NUMBER ONE ON THE LIST

A WOMAN.
What can one say about a woman not being considered for the highest office in the land….except for the simple statement…. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DID NOT ALLOW WOMEN TO VOTE UNTIL THE YEAR ……1920
1920…….it hasn’t even been a freakin 100 years yet….it will take 15 generations before that stigmatism is erased from the psyche of the American voter. And one can ask themselves anything they want about why it took so long to grant WOMEN the right to vote, and there can never be an answer that makes any rational sense. And when something doesn’t make sense then people have a tendency to adopt the old…”well somebody must know something that I don’t.”………and history is made and injustices are not addressed.

The same principle can be applied to many current events.

Iraq….”well somebody must know something that I don’t” …and thus the FIASCO continues.
The continuation of America paying for the Chinese Military build up….
…. “well somebody must know something I don’t”……and the trade imbalance and the lost of American manufacturing continues to become the next generations biggest nightmare.
The problems, both medical and political, affecting millions of starving people in Africa….”well somebody must know something I don’t”…and a scar is developing on the soul of the human species that will remain visible for years to come….hopefully not centuries.

NUMBER TWO ON THE LIST

AN AFRICAN AMERICAN
It’s not like we even have to have this discussion, but suffice to say if it takes 15 generations to get a women elected President…..then for an African American, I would put the time table at somewhere around 2140. An African American Woman ( sorry Condi) would be somewhere around 2400 AD.

And keep in mind…..I’m not talking about all the positive moments accomplished during primaries and during the elections….I’m talking about the MOMENT OF PUNCHING THE CHAD.
THE MOMENT THAT CHANGES HISTORY
THE MOMENT THAT SAYS…. AMERICA IS A TRULY FREE AND DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY WHERE ANYONE CAN BE ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
And just because Junior got elected doesn’t really prove ANYONE can be President…..but I do see the arguments for proving that point.

An African American man whose name rhymes with Osama has NO FREAKIN CHANCE to be elected President of the United States. And the sad part is….he might be the brightest political figure to arrive on the scene since RFK. But also keep in mind that he’s only 13 years old and we’ve yet to see him under the intensely bright lights of a major election campaign.

So the reality check here is…….McCain & Romney vs Edwards & Dean….or Dean & some white Christian guy from Iowa or Texas.

Reality check….. while at the same time understanding that reality can indeed SUCK*.
