The tables have really been turned

Yesterday at the golf course a small group of his friends and three of his sons celebrated Dad's 90th birthday.

While we sat around and waited for a NON-SHOW soft stripper, I had the pleasure of listening to an entire table of Bush/Cheney supporters.

We were having a girl dressed as a nurse come in to the clubhouse and tell Dad that he wasn't suppose to be playing golf yet....she was then going to strip down to a bathing suit and sing him a happy birthday mail gram.

It turns out the young lady said she had car trouble but I suspect "steroids" or some other recreational drug.......in any event she didn't show up and it quickly occurred to me how deeply I was outnumbered in the political arena.

After listening to how Obama has completely messed up out country in eight months...which is really amazing when you stop to think about it...I finally chirped in with one small statement.

"It must be great to finally be on the other side after eight years of defense...attacking is so much more fun than defending."

One of the big differences is that WE, during our eight years of attacking, had two major targets in the White House. No matter what anyone says about Uncle Joe Biden and his occasional honest remarks, he pails in comparison to the Real Dick for newsworthy dribble.

In fact, sometimes when Joe speaks he sounds a little bit like a Republican newscaster in the Sean Hannity realm.

By the way Bill O'Reilly was on some talk show yesterday responding to Brad Pitt being on Bill Maher's show. I only saw a few seconds of it but Mr. O'Reilly flat out stated that marijuana was easily the most dangerous drug of all the drugs being consumed.

BILL O'REILLY IS A COMPLETE IDIOT

Obviously he has never read the statistics regarding alcohol....and he's never seen anyone who is using meth....and on and on and on.....

Pot is so far down the list of dangerous drugs that it almost falls off the list.

Like I said...it's so much more fun being in the attack mode.

But I do suspect that our no-show stripper was probably hitting the bong and couldn't find her car keys.

There also could be another story here concerning a girl who was trying to get her nerve up to go on her first assignment and she literally imploded and couldn't get out of the house.

Dad seemed to get a kick out of the no-show story and while he might have wanted to see it happen......at 90 that want probably doesn't last longer than 20 or 30 seconds.

He also got to listen to fellow Republicans bash the President so all in all it was a good day for him.

Maybe for his 91st we will find a company whose employees have a way of getting to work.

NINETY and on the way to the golf course

Today is William Anthony McAlevey's 90Th Birthday and I will be picking him up and taking him to the golf course where he will drive the cart and do some pitching and putting.

He could actually drive his own car to the course but it saves me a little gas when we take his car from his house and leave my "clunker" behind.

I now am the official owner of a "clunker" and in no way am I referring to my father when I use that term.

He is actually cleared to play a complete round of golf on September the first....which will be about two months since his pacemaker was installed.

He's getting anxious about playing and I'm sure his short game will be a bit rusty when he resumes but I know one thing for sure....he will feel a whole lot better on that day then Tiger felt last Sunday afternoon.

It probably took Tiger about 30 minutes to get over the fact that he had an off day in putting.
That 30 minute period is probably the length of time for Tiger to wallow

He hasn't had a lot of wallowing in his golf life

I honestly believe my dad has not experienced a lot of wallowing in his golf life.

Don't get me wrong...he has had a ton of lousy days and rotten moments on the golf course but he is the kind of person who doesn't let it...things...get to him and that might explain why he's still on his way to the golf course.

Maybe it was his Marine training or maybe the two people on the right in the first picture above taught him the trick.

That picture was taken on Selma Avenue in Hollywood Ca. in 1946. I am in my father's arms and that is Uncle Jerry standing in the front. My grandparents are on the right....James and Clara from Maplewood, Missouri.

I showed this house to Lily the other day and the people that live there now were having a yard sale, and it looks like they have a yard sale every weekend.

The address is 6071 Selma and maybe if you are in town you should stop by and buy something. Some of the stuff looks like it might have been there from our time in that house.

I told the people about my father's rabbit farm in the back and they sort of laughed. I didn't bother to look in the back yard but I suspect 200 rabbits probably filled it to the max.

I'll ask my dad today why he thought rabbits were the path to personal riches and report back later.

Looking at the pictures above I can see why my mom had two kids with my dad....he had that Sinatra thing going and she was a huge Sinatra fan.

He's still got a bit of that Sinatra thing going on but it's mainly in the attitude.

He had some tense physical moments at the beginning of the summer but he is doing extremely well and very excited about playing golf on the first.

We have a special surprise for him today at the course and I'm really hoping it doesn't trigger his new pacemaker into action.

I'll take pictures and report back later.

I am extremely happy and satisfied that I can actually still be in a position to report back later on anything to do with my father.

The only thing that would make today perfect would be if Sean was playing golf with us and celebrating my dad's 90Th birthday in a physical state of grace.

I am well aware of Sean's non-physical state of grace and I love that I know about it and respect it and honor it...but sometimes it just doesn't fill the hole.

And that's not a golf metaphor....and I'm sorry if I brought you down but welcome to my world.

The thing I realize most about my dad is that he would do anything to have Sean with us today and knowing that is all I need to help him celebrate another year.

I love you Dad and let's party dude!

August 16 1977 the end of a KING

The KING passed away today in 1977

King Creole is playing on TMC right now

I still regard that movie as his best and highly recommend watching it to anyone who likes musicals or well written scripts with really good actors.

It was fun being influenced by a young Elvis....and his four BEFORE ARMY movies are all classics.

Cool memories!

I was 12 years old in 1958 when King Creole was released and I'm still not sure who had more influence on my life.....ELVIS or the DODGERS.

ALL OF THESE COMPANIES ATTEND TRADE SHOWS.....to SELL their wares...and perhaps buy from time to time

TRADE SHOWS OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION

I've written about these trade shows a few times in the last year but I didn't mention the major corporations involved.

With a Business Card and enough CASH anyone can attend a trade show and place orders. The question remains on how many of those orders get filled.
Many COUNTRIES probably get extended terms.

IF THE RESEARCH WAS EXTENSIVE I AM SURE WE (MOST PEOPLE NOT INVOLVED IN ARMS DEALING) WOULD BE SHOCKED AT MANY OF THE PURCHASE ORDERS.

I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD SITUATION FROM 1960

Forget music, sports, movies, technology, medical advances and any other situation that has vastly improved over the last 50 years.

THE REASON WE FEEL UNEASY AND TENSE IS BECAUSE OF THE PROLIFERATION OF WEAPONS AND BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT ANYONE WITH MONEY CAN HAVE ADVANCED TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION

AND SOMETIMES JUST HAVING SHAKEY CREDIT WITH OIL RESERVES CAN GET YOU SOME PRETTY NASTY ITEMS

I wonder if the Drug Cartels attend the trade shows?

I honestly don't see how the weapons genie can be put back into the bottle.

THE UNITED STATES appears to be the largest arms supplier in the world.
BUT
that might not be true.

I WOULD BE EXTREMELY SURPRISED IF RUSSIA AND CHINA KEPT EXACT RECORDS OF THEIR ARMS SALES AND DIVULGED THAT INFORMATION TO THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY.

60 Minutes should be attending some of these trade shows.

Noting that GE is on the above list means we won't have any reports complied by NBC

I wonder if Las Vegas has ever held one of these shows?

The real interesting question is......WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD A POLITICIAN TALK ABOUT THE ABUNDANCE OF WEAPONS being distributed around the world?
or
ANYONE for that matter
other than
goofy little guys
like
me
