IS THERE AN OPEN BID ON THIS PROJECT?

LIGHTS ARE GOING TO CHANGE

Democrats are trying to spend a cool million dollars to replace the lights on the Capitol dome and Republicans are saying that it's too much money to spend during a time of record federal budget deficits.

I think if there is an open bid process than it can be done for less than a million....USING THE LATEST SOLID STATE LIGHTING (LEDs) TECHNOLOGY

House Speaker Nancy Polesi (D-Calif)) is pushing for the project to replace 38 1000 watt metal halide lamps with 128 bulbs ranging from 35 to 210 watts.

House Minority leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) claims it will take 50 years to generate enough energy savings to recoup the cost....WHICH IS DEFINITELY NOT TRUE WHEN YOU INCLUDE ALL ASPECTS OF THE RETROFIT.

THIS CAN'T POSSIBLY BE A DEMOCRAT VS REPUBLICAN ISSUE

Republicans can't be against saving energy.

I accept if they think it can be done for less but to complain about a million dollars when we are spending somewhere between $700 BILLION and $4 TRILLION on the war on terror.

BEING ABLE TO SAVE ENERGY ANYWHERE WE CAN WILL HELP TO REDUCE THE REASONS THAT WE NEED TO PROTECT THE PIPELINES.

USING SOLID STATE LIGHTING ON THE CAPITOL BUILDING IS A SYMBOL OF OUR COMMITMENT TO NOT ONLY NEW TECHNOLOGY, BUT EXTREME REDUCTIONS IN ENERGY USE.

A SYMBOL IS OFTEN TIMES MORE IMPORTANT THAN A DRONE BEING USED TO FIND BAD GUYS IN THE MOUNTAINS OF SOME REMOTE FOREIGN LAND.

AND IF THEY DO USE SOLID STATE LIGHTING THEY CAN PROGRAM VARIOUS COLORS FOR CERTAIN HOLIDAYS.

I'M NOT SURE HOW LITTLE YOU KNOW ABOUT LEDs SO I SUGGEST GOING ON CERTAIN SITES TO SEE HOW AMAZING THEY ARE.

This following site has some great pictures....imagine the Capitol Dome lit up for The 4th of July like that giant
Ferris Wheel in London.

GO TO THE SHOWCASE HEADING
AND SEE THE POTENTIAL

KEEP IN MIND THAT COLOR COMBINATIONS ARE COMPUTER DRIVEN
SO THERE IS
AN ABUNDANCE OF CHOICES.

Millions

Seriously.....millions.

And to do the Capitol Dome with LED lights would show
the world that we are
committed
to both saving energy and making everything
just a bit more
colorful...
even if it is only for a few days a year.

AND THAT POSITIVE SYMBOLIC GESTURE WILL ONLY
COST
$1 MILLION DOLLARS!

IS THERE AN OPEN BID ON THIS JOB?

Tomorrow I will explain why you need to stop buying
FLUORESCENT
SPIRAL BULBS
THAT CONTAIN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
NEUROTOXIN
