This might be as close as we get

Being a basic homer for LA and surrounding areas, in football, baseball and basketball, I better write this quick because this might be as close as we get to the

FREEWAY SERIES
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in first place

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have already clinched their division....and it is the earliest clinching in the history of the franchise

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in first place

I JUST LOVE BEING ABLE TO SAY THAT ON SEPTEMBER 12
The Dodgers have been in Los Angeles since 1958

The Angels have been in Southern California since 1961

They have both won the World Series....DODGERS FIVE TIMES/ANGELS ONE TIME

THEY HAVE NEVER PLAYED EACH OTHER IN A WORLD SERIES

The town deserves to witness a true FREEWAY SERIES.

DODGERS FANS DESERVE IT

ANGEL FANS DESERVE

I DESERVE IT

YOU DESERVE IT

Being a Dodger fan since 1954 ( I was eight and just starting to pay attention and for some reason the Dodgers were my favorite team) I didn't realize that my loyalty was going to be rewarded with a franchise move to my backyard in 1958 but I've always had very good intuition so that might have been an early sign.

The fact that I've been able to listen to Vin Scully the entire time has been covered in previous columns....but it's still the best part of the Dodger loyalty story.

IT'S TIME FOR VIN SCULLY TO BE ABLE TO ANNOUNCE A WORLD SERIES BETWEEN THE LOS ANGELES DODGERS AND THE LOS ANGELES ANGELS AT ANAHEIM

HE DESERVES IT MORE THAN ANYONE ON THE PLANET

So many things have to happen for that event to take place...and we all know that the ball bounces oddly at certain times.

IT IS A POSSIBILITY

BUT

this might be as close as we get.

First the Dodgers have to win their division...and that's still a BIG IF...and then they have get past teams like THE CUBS or THE PHILLIES or THE METS or THE ASTROS or THE BREWERS

1988 is undeniable proof that anything is possible.

BUT 20 YEARS SINCE EXPERIENCING THE SACRED GROUND OF A WORLD SERIES EVENT IS NOT A GOOD THING

THEY ARE OVERDUE

BUT IF THEY ARE OVERDUE

THEN

THE

CUBS

ARE

BEYOND

OVERDUE

AND BEYOND OVERDUE BOTHERS ME BUT I KEEP REMEMBERING THAT THEY

ARE

THE

CUBS

I'm sure the Universe isn't really focusing on who wins the World Series but if there are some entities out there that might be looking down on our National Pastime...and I do know a few that truly do care, one in particular...then I'm simply going to ask a big favor.

MY DEAR SON SEAN....

If you could do anything to affect the small bad bounce or the tricky fly ball....I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW GAMES ARE AFFECTED.....so I'll just flat out ask

PLEASE SON....

PLEASE GIVE THIS GIFT TO VIN SCULLY

and of course your GRANDPA BILL who loves the Angels, as much as I love the Dodgers.......I know you know that he's 89

so

a

DODGERS/ANGELS WORLD SERIES

would be a great gift for him

I don't think it's asking too much...and I've always heard....what's the harm in asking.

I fully understand if it doesn't happen but it's nice to know that we've gotten this close

especially after how medicore the Dodgers looked for most of the season....and since 1988, if one wants to be realistic.

OBVIOUSLY BEING REALISTIC ISN'T THE THEME OF THIS PIECE

BUT

ONE

CAN

DREAM
