Although most people are focusing on a game being played this coming Sunday in Florida…the real game is being played in bank accounts belonging to the following players. And please keep in mind, we are 11 months away from the first Caucus in Iowa.
HILLARY CLINTON…….$14 MILLION
CHRISTORPHER DODD…….(who) $4.9 MILLION
TOM VILSACK….$1.13 MILLION
RUDY GIULIANI……$1.3 MILLION
MITT ROMNEY….$ AS MUCH AS HE NEEDS
SAM BROWNBACK…..$575,000
BARACK OBAMA…..$516,000
JOHN MC CAIN……$472,000
CHUCK HAGEL…..$141,000
JOESPH BIDEN……NO SENSE
JOHN EDWARDS….UNKNOWN BECAUSE HE’S A TRIAL LAWYER
NEWT GINGRICH…..ALL OF RUSH LIMPBAUGH’S WORTH
RALPH NADER….$89.74 CENTS
PETER CAMEJO…$ THE VALUE OF SOME FICUS TREES IN OREGON
DENNIS KUCINNNICK…..WHATEVER BEING ANTI-WAR IS WORTH
(And at this stage it looks to be worth…..squat.)
The game really heats up in the next two weeks because football season will be over and spring training doesn’t start until the end of the month. The fundraisers will be held and by the end of February all the numbers above will be adjusted….dramatically. By then we will know where the Hollywood money is going....and Hollywood money can’t just be regarded as money….showbiz support goes way beyond money. The publicity that a candidate can generate from Hollywood support adds tremendous punch to the account of whoever receives the support. The Democratic battle seems to be between Hillary and Barack, but keep in mind that the Republican battle between Rudy and John is just as interesting.
Next year the 2008 Super Bowl will be held in Arizona on February 3rd. By that time we will have results from Iowa and the game will be moving into the second half. Some of the players will have already been eliminated, but a few new players will have emerged.
The fact that Robert Kennedy Jr. will not be running until 2016 really makes it hard on us older baby boomers….
The interesting thing is that a Presidential election involves a total of around a hundred million voters….give or take a bit, depending on candidates.
The Super Bowl has around a hundred million viewers (US) depending on the teams.
Does that mean that the only people who vote also watch the Super Bowl….what are the odds?
How many people not voting watch the Super Bowl?
MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA FOR PRINCE TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT AT HALFTIME.
“ladies and gentleman….thank you for watching the game….now for an important point about a real game…..those of you who are not registered to vote….need to register. And those of who you are registered, who don’t plan on voting….need to change your mind. The 2008 Presidential Election is the real game and it doesn’t matter who you vote for…you just need to show the players that they work for you….let’s party like it’s 2008.”
Now that would rock some socks and be a halftime statement that people would be talking about for awhile….or at least until spring training started.
Ok…so I have a little baseball Jones….but give me a break….October is a long time ago and five months without baseball is really depressing.
But for now….there’s a little football game to be played….and a little money to be raised and a few more chances for Joe Biden to stick his foot all the way down his throat.
BIDEN AND BUSH should start a law firm in January 2009….both will have a lot of free time on their hands.
