Its Springtime in Kabul

Our resolve in Afghanistan is about to be tested.  We've been involved in that country since Jimmy Carter canceled the American participation in the 1980 Moscow Olympics.  Our physical military presence has been ongoing since 2001 and every winter things calm down and then spring comes and the passes open up and Senor Taliban resumes their fair weather hostilities.

But in the last ten years there has never been a pull out time table involved....and now there is.  I suspect that the Taliban will increase their efforts exponentially and at that point the United States will have to make a choice of stand up and respond or look the other way and continue the pull out.

Please note that we still have over 60,000 American soldiers on the ground.

I doubt very much if we want to give the Afghan army our drone technology but of course we all know that our military brainiacs have made horrible errors in judgement when it comes to weapons distribution.

Hopefully you haven't forgotten that we armed Osama Bib Laden when he was battling the Ruskies....and then on top of that we let the Rambo weapon loose for awhile.  Was that Rambo 3 or 4?

The Taliban waited until the NFL draft was over and announced that this Sunday would begin a "monumental spring offensive to defeat the Western invaders."

We are about to find out how many US trained Afghan soldiers are actually undercover Taliban.

The ISAF, the good guys from NATO if you are reading this in Detroit, said that the Afghan people "should not fear Taliban threats."  They claim that the Afghan National Security Forces have used the winter to prepare for taking over security and are ready.

We are about to find out how many US trained Afghan soldiers are actually undercover Taliban.

I realize I said it twice but it's a point that needs to emphasised.

The Taliban have named this spring's offensive calling it the Khalid bin Waleed operation.  Khalid was a companion of Muhammad and was regarded as a major military figure.

The Taliban's goal is to overthrow President Hamid Karzai  and establish an Islamic caliphate in Afghanistan under sharia....or better known as Islamic Law.

We are about to find out how many US trained Afghan soldiers are actually undercover Taliban.

I'm pretty sure that's the most important question being asked.....

As of today we haven't reached an agreement on how many soldiers will remain in Afghanistan after 2014.

I'm not a military mind by any stretch of the imagination but I would suspect that such a decision should be finalized somewhere around September or October....just to see how the spring and summer recreational war events pan out.

But that's just me!

Maybe we should actually call Rambo one more time.........and see how he feels.

Springtime in Kabul.....isn't it lovely and don't those poppy fields look majestic?
