Now that the games are over

I've basically taken a two week break from the news because I simply love watching the Olympics and to do it correctly one has to sever most of one's media ties.

I wasn't able to be totally surprised every night, but I did a pretty good job....and the Vancouver Olympics were quite enjoyable. The United States set a record for most medals in a winter Olympics....37. And Canada got their monies worth by winning the most gold medals...14.

I think we should simply blow Russia's mind and boycott the 2014 Sochi games.

Make up a story that we are disappointed they haven't helped us in Afghanistan.

That would officially send Putin into never never land.

But seriously, Russia is the contractor for all the Nuclear stuff going on in Iran so maybe there is pressure to be applied. Where's Jimmy Carter? Do you have his cell phone number?

I just love it when religious leaders start talking about earthquakes as punishment from God. Anyone that has taken a fourth grade geography class has learned that we live on fault lines.
Mountains and islands have been formed by volcanic action and continental plate shifting, and that activity has been going on for about as long as Earth has been rotating around the sun.

Chile had a 9.5 in 1960 which stands as a record....so they aren't completely surprised when things start rocking and rolling.

President Obama needs to sign a piece of paper regarding gays in the military.

Anybody who wants to join the military should not be questioned about their sexual preferences. Once they are in the service then they will have to deal with anything that comes up among their fellow soldiers.

I thought that was one of the reasons we elected Barry. Along with the promise that each and everyone of us could get the same type of Insurance that the Senate and Congress get.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT PLAN?

I'm pretty sure I've never seen a time when people were this fed up with both parties.

It's a serious lack of trust that seems to be dominating the minds of the people and it's creating ugly waves on both sides.

Listening to Meet the Press on Sunday morning made my stomach ache. They had people from both sides of the aisle and they all sounded insane when it came to talking about the Health Care Reform bill.

By insane I mean they talk in complete circles. It's a test to figure out what they actually mean.

I realize that Will Rogers was making fun of politicians 75 years ago but suddenly it is not funny anymore.

Lobbyists control this country and until we close down their offices in Washington there will never be a clear cut answer to any problem.

For 50 years I've been listening to candidates babble on about lobbyists and their influence....and I'm pretty sure that today in Washington D.C. there are more of them then ever before.

It's a freakin pandemic of the highest order.

And one last thing....who cares if anybody filibusters?

The only one we have ever seen do it...... is Jimmy Stewart....and that worked out pretty good.

Politicians are really not in-tune with the American people and the American people always settle for something much much less then they thought they were getting.

I get this way every time spring training starts.

Where's my glove?
