I realize that my daughter is now a grown woman but no matter how adult she becomes she is still the little girl that I knew for the first 10 years of her life.
There is something about those first ten years in a young girl's life that just simply do not go away in the heart and mind of a father.
A mother might surrender those memories easier because she actually was one of those
unique creatures.
I think fathers never forget.
Even during frustrating and trying times and even during strange times and even during wonderful times.
That little girl is just taller.
I understand the principle behind letting the little girl go and letting her become an adult woman but understanding a principle and acting on a principle are two entirely different animals.
Lily is 23 years old today but in a special part of my heart and soul she is just turning 4....maybe 5.
I know it's silly but it's just the fact of life when you are lucky enough to have a beautiful daughter.
Happy Birthday Lily
