Mind Jazz: CANDIDATES, STATE PROPS AND LOCAL MEASURES

I fully understand that next Tuesday there is a central reason for casting a vote...but I am also quite aware of how many people vote who don't really know who or what they are voting for.

THERE'S A CERTAIN LEVEL OF AWARENESS depending on what OR whom one might be voting for.

Let's put 10 as the top awareness number and 1 as the lowest.

PEOPLE AWARE OF WHO THEY ARE VOTING FOR AS PRESIDENT.........10

(I have to believe there is ample awareness for this office but I know I'm being generous)

PEOPLE AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE VOTING FOR IN STATE PROPOSITIONS.....5

PEOPLE AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE VOTING FOR IN LOCAL MEASURES....4

PEOPLE AWARE OF WHO THEY ARE VOTING FOR IN CITY COUNCIL RACES....5

PEOPLE AWARE OF WHO THEY ARE VOTING FOR AS JUDGES........MINUS 1000

THIS LAST CATEGORY MIGHT BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE VOTE FOR AND NOBODY KNOWS WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE....ON ANY LEVEL.

Now it's important to clarify what AWARE means. Being AWARE of something or someone means you have researched, independently, the issues and or rumors and or allegations and or policies of said person or proposition....before casting your precious and valued vote.

THE AMOUNT OF TIME PUT INTO RESEARCH CAN DETERMINE THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS ONE HAS REGARDING THESE MATTERS.

MY GUT FEELING IS THAT 5% OF THE VOTING PUBLIC SPEND MORE THAN 50 HOURS RESEARCHING PEOPLE AND PROPOSITIONS.

MY GUT FEELING IS THAT 95% OF THE VOTING PUBLIC SPEND LESS THAN 50 HOURS RESEARCHING PEOPLE AND PROPOSITIONS.

ON TOP OF THAT SILLY GUT FEELING, IS THE FEELING THAT 75% OF THAT 95% SPEND LESS THAN 10 HOURS RESEARCHING ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH ANYONE OR ANYTHING THAT THEY ARE VOTING FOR.

SIDE-BAR.....THE INTERNET HAS PROBABLY CONTRIBUTED TO REDUCING THAT PERCENTAGE FROM 95 TO 75 BECAUSE PEOPLE DO HAVE A TENDENCY TO SPENT TIME ON THE COMPUTER....Microsoft, Apple and Google are who they are because of the time spent in their world.

But what that also means is that people can be duped by what they find on the Internet...especially if they don't go beyond the obvious constructed dupe techniques that are put in place in order to create dupiness.

I therefore have decided to offer my picks for the upcoming election... people and propositions and measures and city council and school board and judges.

I can officially state that being duped is not something limited to dupes but on the other hand

I might be the biggest dupe of them all.

My sincere hope is that you have researched the people and the issues and have decided to vote a certain way because of the information formulated in your noggin.

PRESIDENT: Are you kidding me? Even though I do find it hard not to vote for Nader..but I made that error in 2000

UNITED STATES REPRESENTATIVE.....NOBODY IS RUNNING AGAINST WAXMAN?

STATE SENATOR....COLIN GOLDMAN.....How could I not for for a screenwriter?

STATE ASSEMBLY.....JULIA BROWNLEY....I guess!

JUDICIAL....The only interesting person here is ROCKY CRABB.....but Hilleri Merritt probably has some legacy involved in her history.

STATE MEASURES
1a....YES....even though I think the proponents of 8 are pushing this so they can get to San Francisco faster....which becomes my only gay joke of the campaign

2...YES....seems like common sense...even though it will raise the price of eggs to $10 a carton.

3...YES...talk about a guilt trip

4...NO....

I'm just against anything to reduce a women's right to choose....even if she's a teenager.

A teenager in America is a mother of two in many
other countries. I also believe 16 year olds should be able to vote.

5.....I HAVE GONE BACK AND FORTH ON THIS ONE MANY MANY MANY MANY TIMES....AND THEN THIS MORNING JERRY BROWN CAME OUT AGAINST IT BUT HE WAS STANDING NEXT TO ARNOLD WHO IS ALSO AGAINST IT AND THE PRISON GUARDS ARE AGAINST IT AND THEREFORE I GUESS I'M AGAINST IT.

BUT IN REALITY....I AM FOR LESS PRISONS AND MORE TREATMENT CENTERS FOR NON-VIOLENT DRUG USERS SO THEREFORE I AM VOTING
YES....but it probably won't pass

6.....YES....the gang related sentence in the bill got me....all gangs should be in prison....everyone not in a gang should be out of prison unless they committed a violent crime.
The gangs could then take care of the violent criminals and all's well that ends well.

7...YES....but 2010 seems rather quick

8.....NO...I still can't believe this got on the ballot....in California????? Texas and Oklahoma I get....California???????

9....YES....VICTIMS SHOULD HAVE INPUT....but not final say.

10.....NO....let the big boys spend their own money

11.....YES....This seems like something that should be done by a Bi-Partisan Commission.

12......YES...another effective guilt trip
