The actual name of the award is.....
THE TEMPLELTON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARD RESEARCH OR DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES.
or
in webdings...
THE TEMPLELTON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARD RESEARCH OR DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES.
Which brings me to a question that I've never asked before, and have wondered since the first time I saw a list of font types.........what the hell are webdings and what exactly are they used for?
I bet Charles Taylor of Canada knows the answer.
I'm announcing right now that I'm throwing my hat in the ring for next year's Templeton award. I'm going to call today and get an application and send in my entry fee.....which I've heard is around $75,000.00.
I'd really like to win THE TEMPLETON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARD RESEARCH OR DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES....but who wouldn't want to win THE TEMPLETON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARD RESEARCH OR DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES?
THE TEMPLETON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARDS RESEARCH OR DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES is the planet's largest annual monetary award given to an individual.
The founder of THE TEMPLETON PRIZE FOR PROGRESS TOWARDS RESEARCH DISCOVERIES ABOUT SPIRITUAL REALITIES, or as I like to call it......
the TTPFPTRODASR......was founded by John Templeton in 1972. Mr. Templeton wrote a book in 1968 that contained 87 million words and weighed 3 and half tons. The man liked to stretch things out......which by the way.....I enjoy doing sometimes myself....of which this column might be a prime example.
Mr. Taylor's remarks after winning the prize pretty much sums up what his philosophy is all about. "It is impossible to really understand what makes people and societies "tick" without considering both the secular and spiritual. People must be able to think in both languages, in both levels---not just with one half of their brain."
Charles Taylor is the first Canadian to win the TTPFPTRODASR.
I'd love to see the plague or the trophy or better yet.....THE CHECK. Imagine the top left hand corner of the check.
The Templeton Prize for Progress Toward Research or Discoveries About Spiritual Realities
Very little room for anything else....but then if they were really interested in spiritual realities they would give him the prize in cash.
Or, if they were The Templeton Spirit Clown Troupe they could give him a check that could only be cashed in Heaven......................now that's funny.
The night of the award ceremony....which is hosted by Prince Philip.....could be quite an eventful night. It takes place at Buckingham Palace on May 2nd. It says that it will be a private ceremony but I'm inclined to think there will be quite a few people stopping by. I wonder if Ticketmaster is handling the affair.
I'd just like the job of printing the invitations.......and the posters....after all it's quite a mouthful to say....THE TEMPL------oh f..k it.
Which I realize using f..k probably will hurt my chances of winning next year's prize.....but I'm here to enhance spiritual awareness...not coddle to your Victorian sensibilities.

why no photos in this blog?
I have never been aware of this award... does that make me less spiritual? Why do you have to pay 75,000???

i,m with Seamus on this dealeo...
what form of contest requires
an entrance fee of 5%, when the award is 1.5m? Kentucky Derby?
strange tale... but, maybe i'm
not understanding something.
in regard to Wingdings, this is
a font "created" by Microsoft
to save character space on line.
those guys are really bright...
the only problem is you need an
Egyptologist, a Weege Board,
a Thomas Brothers guide, and
special decoder ring to use it.
