The last three times I reported on my 87 year dad kicking my ass on the course....he had paid for each round. His kindness was well appreciated and each time I paid him back by losing. Of course I never tried to lose, but sometimes payback can be tough and who am I to complain when I'm being treated to a freebie. The Golfing God pays attention to stuff like this, as well as everything else in the Universe. After all, God can pretty much handle anything going on, and after the massive energy needed in the beginning...all the regular "stuff " going on today, is probably a cake walk.
I say probably because who really knows? Remember one of my NEO-ILLUMINATIONS is
"ANYBODY WHO CLAIMS TO KNOW GOD'S WILL..................SHOULD BE AVOIDED."
So today I paid my own way.....and BAM....WHAM....SLAM.....I beat my dad.....by 3 strokes. Now here's the odd part of the story....on the 18th hole I suddenly felt lightheaded and woozy....and actually dropped to one knee before hitting my approach shot to the green....as I rose to my feet I turned and noticed my dad driving the cart toward me and asking," are you ok?"
I said I was a little dizzy but then hit my lob wedge over a large tree and landed on the green....I then two putted and went and sat down in the cart while the other three gentlemen finished off the hole. My dad walked over and asked me again if I was ok. All I could think to say was, "I guess I got dizzy just thinking about beating you." His answer was, "It's bound to happen once in awhile." I then made him laugh by saying, "I think I won because I paid for my round." Which means next time he will insist on paying for me.
Am I a trickster.....or what?
Seriously, if I had his short approach game, which is incredible, and he had my length, which is not so long, and my putting, which he might debate.....somewhere in the mix of our games....there is a game.
I just pray that at 87 I'm calling for tee times and I also pray that he's still making that call at 97. Seems like it might happen for him....not so sure about me.
Becoming lightheaded on the golf course is not a good sign, but it was rather warm and I might have been just a little too excited about finally beating him.
I made copies of the three previous blogs that I wrote about our golf matches and gave them to him. He's really not an Internet type dude even though he would enjoy the depth of research possible.....but since he is a prolific reader I wouldn't want to interfere with that passion.
But I can add this.....my father will have a Yahoo e-mail account when a monkey flies out of my ass.
And in truth......having a Yahoo e-mail account is probably not that big of a deal. Sorry Yahoo but most likely the way things are going....he would have a Google account first.
Ouch!
I look forward to our next match because truthfully.....today could have been a monkey flying out of some one's ass...... kind of a day.
We'll see.....hopefully
