NEW MATTER FROM CERN

By Clara Moskowitz, LiveScience Senior Writer

LiveScience.com – Mon, Nov 12, 2012..
....An extremely rare particle measurement from the world's largest atom smasher could cast doubt on a popular theory about the fundamental building blocks of the universe, including dark matter.

Physicists from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Switzerland have measured a particular type of particle transformation for the first time, and found that it happens just about as often as predicted by the dominant theory of particle physics, called the Standard Model.

The measurement is just preliminary — the researchers haven't collected enough data to be positive what they're seeing isn't just a random occurrence. Still, the fact that the initial observations correspond so well with the Standard Model predictions isn't a hopeful sign for what scientists call "new physics," such as new particles not predicted by the Standard Model.

One of the most popular theories of new physics is the idea of "supersymmetry" — that all of the known subatomic particles have "superpartner" particles that haven't yet been observed. If these superpartners exist, they could help explain some persistent physics mysteries, such as the nature of dark matter, an invisible substance thought to make up a quarter of the universe. Scientists think dark matter may in fact be composed of supersymmetric particles that haven't yet been detected.

While the new measurement, reported today (Nov. 12) by physicists at the Large Hadron Collider's LHCb experiment, doesn't disprove this idea, it doesn't support it, either. [Photos: The World's Largest Atom Smasher (LHC)]

"Many new physics theories receive a hard blow by the very good match between Standard Model prediction and observed rate," particle physicist Tommaso Dorigo, who works on a separate experiment at the Large Hadron Collider called CMS, wrote today on his blog.

Rarest ever seen

The LHCb scientists reported that they'd observed signs of particles called B_s ("B-sub-S") mesons, which are made of a bottom anti-quark bound to a strange quark ("bottom" and "strange" are two flavors of quarks, and anti-quarks are the antimatter partner particles of normal matter quarks), decaying into two particles called muons.

Since 2006 I have written several articles about the CERN project in Europe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider
A few of my articles were focused on what would happen if a man-made mini-black hole suddenly had a life of it's own and started to grow.  I've learned that IF a mini-black hole is created that it exists for a very short period of time....like in the millisecond range. I've also learned that the people involved have no idea what will happen if it lasts longer than a millisecond.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole

Since the story above is about NEW MATTER being created at the CERN project I thought it would be interesting to share a journal piece I wrote in 2002 and a drawing that I created.

They cannot both be right
or
can they?

My guess is they both must work for anything to work

QUARKS were named, or discovered,  in 1968 at Stanford University by
Murray Gell-Mann

Up Quarks

Down Quarks
A Proton has 2 up-quarks and 1 down-quark
A Neutron has 2 down-quarks and 1 up-quark

PHYSICAL REALITY APPEARS TO BE MADE FROM

THEN ADD NEUTRINOS AND

Neutrinos were presented in the early 1930's by Wolfgang Pauli
and lately WE add

and then
add
TAU

and
electron-neutrinos and the bottom line is

HOW MANY FAMILIES ARE THERE?

THE CALABI-YAU SPACE  IS SIX DIMENSIONAL SHAPE

GOOD LUCK!

and then a NEO-ILLUMINATION APPEARED AT THIS MOMENT IN THE JOURNAL

"THE SHAPE OF NON-PHYSICAL REALITY

The one thing I know for certain  is that reality keeps changing
and everybody knows that exact same thing

it might be the main thing that artists and physicists have in common.

I'm just trying to explain that NEW MATTER isn't really new just because WE haven't seen it yet.

Three must see movies

Each one of the following is a must see holiday film and I'm still not sure which one I like the best because they are so different that best might be impossible.

Lincoln.....
for obvious reasons

Life of Pi................2D or 3D
because it is visually beautiful and the trained Tiger is so good

Silver Linings Playbook....
if you love sports or if you know someone who loves sports
if you love gambling or you know someone who loves gambling
if you are bi-polar or know someone who is bi-polar
if you are in love or know someone who is in love
if you live in a neigborhood or knows someone who lives in a neighborhood
if you have parents or know someone who has parents
if you have kids or know someone who has kids
if you are an adult or know someone who is an adult

In other words this movie is for every person over 18

Nothing like a great movie on the BIG SCREEN to take your mind off the retail insanity season.

Holiday season is now offically started

When Abe Lincoln created Thanksgiving on October 3, 1863 he said the national holiday would occur on the LAST Thursday of November.

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS THE LAST THURSDAY OF NOVEMBER....but there are questions about my memory.

HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT WE HAVE ONE MORE THURSDAY IN NOVEMBER AND YOU'VE ALREADY CELEBRATED THANKSGIVING?

Now...my paranoid brain has me wondering how Wal-Mart, JCP, Costco and the 99 cent store had our greatest non-secular family holiday changed to the 3rd Thursday of every November?

IF THIS WASN'T DONE TO INCREASE OUR HOLIDAY SPENDING BY ANOTHER WEEK THAN I'LL  EAT A BEET SANDWICH...and anybody who knows me knows I won't allow a beet on the same street where I live.

WHEN DID THIS FIRST HAPPEN?

IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN TEN YEARS AGO BUT I'M A LITTLE SLOW IN CATCHING ON.

One of my favorite quotes....."I'm not stupid just slow"  Which is usually followed by one of my friends saying......"are you absolutely sure?"  To which I reply...."absolutely.....maybe"

Of course I could look it up on the Internet but then I won't be able to have the above rant appear on Mind Jazz.

I do know that I've asked 30 people so far and the answers have ranged from...

"oh you mean this isn't the last Thursday of November?"
"It started last year."
"I think it's just a one time deal"
"who cares"
"don't you have better things to do?"
"I'd like to talk but I've got a lot more shopping to do"
"I wish it was every month"

I've noticed over the last 50 years that I seem interested in many things that have no interest to other people.

That also seems to apply to my artwork and to my scripts....so I think I'm going to start using different names for different things I do....which means creating more Facebook pages and more e-mail addresses.

So if you see something that looks like something I might do then simply rest assured that it's actually me doing what I do but with a different non-de plume......mabye.....absolutely.

Let the Holidays begin with a Trojan victory over the Irish.

And remember if you truly care about the economic stability of America then you will shop shop shop shop shop shop shop shop until you have no more money and have gone further into debt.

NOW THAT'S THE AMERICA I KNOW AND LOVE.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

and just in case you need the actual facts on this silly topic

I'm pretty sure this is a first

This is just a small sampling of my MRI.

I'm thinking of blowing them up to 30 x 40 feet and doing an art installation....but first I have to paint each one.....should take a few days....or twenty years

Thanksgiving this year is on the 49th anniversary of JFK's recall to the non-physical reality level.

WAY.....WAY.....WAY OUT THERE

Courtesy of Hubble Space Telescope
Sept 2012

Like photographers assembling a portfolio of best shots, astronomers have assembled a new, improved portrait of mankind's deepest-ever view of the universe.

Called the eXtreme Deep Field, or XDF, the photo was assembled by combining 10 years of NASA Hubble Space Telescope photographs taken of a patch of sky at the center of the original Hubble Ultra Deep Field. The XDF is a small fraction of the angular diameter of the full Moon.

The Hubble Ultra Deep Field is an image of a small area of space in the constellation Fornax, created using Hubble Space Telescope data from 2003 and 2004. By collecting faint light over many hours of observation, it revealed thousands of galaxies, both nearby and very distant, making it the deepest image of the universe ever taken at that time.

For full story:
http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2012/37/image/a/

I think it's very important, especially after a presidential election, to focus on the bigger picture from time to time.  We get so wrapped up in our supposedly bigger than life daily moments, that we tend to forget simple details like the Universe is 14 BILLION years old and is continuing to expand at a rate that we simply cannot comprehend.  Our Milky Way galaxy has 200 BILLION stars and there are BILLIONS of other galaxies....which puts my 180 pounds physical mass at the very small end of the rotation.  Thank God for nanotechnology.......I feel like the biggest blob in the universe when I start looking at quantum reality.....but it's hard to stay in that environment just like it's extremely hard to contemplate infinity for longer than a minute or two.

We have so many issues that are confronting us as a society....and by society I am referring to the ruling species on the planet.....human beings.

It's just like the Universe vs Quantum reality

BIG and small

The big picture includes planetary stability
The little picture includes economic stability for our government.

Unless we learn how to be creative job creators
and somehow reign in the PENSION fiasco's that is threatening every city and state in the Union....we will continue to face economic hardships.

FROM THE DEEPEST VIEW EVER ASSEMBLED OF THE UNIVERSE TO PENSION REFORM.....IT'S ALL PART OF THE SAME PICTURE

Some things we have absolutely no control over
SOME THINGS WE HAVE CREATED
Allowing Government Pensions to be 90% of salaries with life long medical coverage for the family is simply
LUDICROUS

THINKING THAT HUMAN BEINGS CAN STOP THE UNIVERSE FROM EXPANDING IS SIMPLY
LUDICROUS

WHY WOULD YOU?

WHY WOULD POLITICIANS GRANT PENSIONS THAT GIVE RETIRED PEOPLE 90% OF THEIR SALARIES WITH LIFETIME FAMILY MEDICAL COVERAGE?

How do we get those people to reduce their pensions to a reasonable number.....such as 60%?

I think we put them in a large room with pictures from the Hubble Telescope and explain how everything works....and then simply explain why somethings
BREAK

WE CAN FIX THE PROBLEMS
BUT
WE
NEED
PEOPLE
TO
UNDERSTAND
THE
PROBLEMS
AND
HOW
THEY
DEVELOPED

Human beings are most likely just using the Earth for a few million years and then either moving on or.........or.....or.......

The reality is that while entrenched on this beautiful sphere we should be doing everything to make the life experience
a
beautiful experience

Details dictate that economics plays a role in that experience.
Details dictate that love plays a role in that experience.
Details dictate that common sense and creativity play roles in that experience.

WE NEED TO ALTER SOME DETAILS WITHIN OUR POLITICAL STRUCTURE

SOMEWHERE
SOMEHOW
SOMEONE
OR
EVERYONE
IS
GOING TO ALTER
SOMETHING

The sooner we repair, the less we will have to alter.

and now I've got to get off the altar and back into the deepest ever picture of the Universe

Hopefully you followed me up and down and then back up again.

It's a crazy time in a crazy world but it can be fixed and it can work better
for
everyone
everywhere

because

the universe is perfect
all the time

sometimes.

Electoral College Interactive Map

The site listed below is basically a United States of America history lesson.
I actually think this map could be a college course.

Look at each election and realize how events (Great Depresson, WW1 & 11 etc.) have interacted with elections.

It's also interesting to see the people who lost each election and realize that
an event could have put those unknown names into the White House.
If you have children under the age 18 then this map is a perfect way to teach them
about the history of our great nation.

Enjoy and learn!

2012 Presidential Election Interactive Map: Interactive map for the upcoming 2012 presidential election. Use it to predict which candidate will reach the necessary 270 electoral votes.

I guess this is my final gesture regarding the 2012 Presidential election

Things went well....and 332 has a nice ring to it.....don't you think?

The Military issue does not go away like the election

For years I've been pointing out how large our military budget is, compared to other countries, and over the last two months I've written several pieces concentrating on that issue, and that issue alone. I had planned on posting President Eisenhower's farewell speech from 1961 about ten days before the election and then some bitch named Sandy hammered the east coast and made everything else seem trivial.

This speech that you are about to hear is from one of the greatest military heroes in United States history.

I'm truly not sure how great a President he was because it was simply a great decade to be alive.

Anybody could have done a good job during the birth of rock and roll and the presence of a young Elvis.  Television became a reality in the 50's and because of Elvis and TV, everything else just fell into place....even that small burp in Korea didn't diminish the glow of the 50's.

I'm well aware of the racial inequities that existed during that time period but being a young white teenager in Southern California I actually had no concept of race problems.  All the sports teams had black stars so as far as I was concerned THERE WAS NO PROBLEM.

Racial inequities in the 50's is a theme for another time.  The thing I want you to focus on is what Dwight D. Eisenhower told the American people as he left office.

(SIDE BAR.....HAVE YOU HEARD THIS?  NO REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE HAS WON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION SINCE 1928 WITHOUT A NIXON OR A BUSH ON THE TICKET......1928!

READ THAT ONE MORE TIME!

It turns out that Romney made a big mistake by not picking Jeb Bush or Norm Nixon as his running mate.)

BACK TO IKE

LISTEN TO HIS WORDS VERY CAREFULLY AND THEN REMEMBER THAT WE SPEND $901 BILLION DOLLARS ON OUR DEFENSE BUDGET and that does not include the cost of our military endeavors (wars) around the globe.

A GENERAL AND A PRESIDENT WRAPPED INTO ONE TRYING TO WARN US AND US SEEMS TO BE TOTALLY IGNORING.

THE MILITARY ISSUE IS SO MUCH LARGER THAN THE ELECTION THAT MY BRAIN IS ABOUT TO
EXPLODE!

BOOM!

I've been taken out by a domestic drone courtesy of Fox news.

Those bastards!

Long live IKE......
Television and of course.....

ELVIS!

Go Trojans.

SAM GORDON

One day after a very tight election Sam Gordon enters our lives and we see rainbows, sunshine, ice cream, puppy dogs, young and old lovers holding hands in the park and ANYTHING ELSE that makes one feel good about life.

Sam Gordon should retire from football immediately.

ARE YOU LISTENING.......... SAM'S DAD AND MOM??????????!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to watch next year's video when Sam Gordon meets 10 year old linebaker BUSTER SUH (Ndamakong's younger brother)

Take the viral experience to the bank and point her toward another sport......PLEASE!

In the meantime I'm going to watch the video again and again and again.

SAM GORDON................................THANK YOU!....
America really needed a break from the adult world of political tension.

This is Mitt's core belief.....we've seen where this leads

Robert Reich's FACEBOOK post on 11/4/12

• It's time for a final summary of the worldview of Mitt Romney. Despite its contradictions and ellipses, Romneyism, as this creed might be called, has an internal coherence. Here are its ten core principles:

1. Corporations are the basic units of society. Corporations are people, and the overriding purpose of an economy is to maximize corporate profits. When profits are maximized, the economy grows fastest. This growth benefits everyone in the form greater output, better products and services, and higher share prices.

2. Workers are a means to the goal of maximizing corporate profits. If workers do not contribute to that goal, they should be fired. If they cannot then find other work that helps maximize profits in another company, their wages must be too high, and they must therefore accept steadily lower wages until they find a job.

3. All factors of production – capital, physical plant and equipment, workers – are fungible and should be treated the same. Any that fail to deliver high competitive returns should be replaced or discarded. This keeps an economy efficient. Fairness is and should be irrelevant.

4. Pollution, unsafe products, unsafe working conditions, financial fraud, and other negative side effects of the pursuit of profits are the price society pays for profit-driven growth. They should not be used as excuses to constrain the pursuit of profits through regulation.

5. Individual worth depends on net worth — how much money one has made, and the value of the assets that money has been invested in. Any person with enough intelligence and ambition can make a fortune. Failure to do so is sign of moral and intellectual inferiority.

6. People who fail in the economy should not be coddled. They should not receive food stamps, Medicaid, or any other form of social subsidy. Coddling leads to a weaker society and a weaker economy.

7. Taxes are inherently bad because they constrain profit-making. It is the right and responsibility of individuals and corporations to exploit every tax loophole they (and their tax attorneys) can find in order to pay the lowest taxes possible.

8. Politics is a game whose only purpose is to win. Any means used to win the game is legitimate even if it involves lying and cheating, as long as it gains more supporters than it loses.

9. Democracy is dangerous because it is forever vulnerable to the votes of a majority intent on capturing the wealth of the successful minority, on whom the economy depends. The rich must therefore do whatever is necessary to prevent the majority from exercising its will, including spending large sums of money on lobbyists and political campaigns. The most virtuous among the rich will go a step further and run for president.

10. The three most important aspects of life are family, religion, and money. Patriotism is a matter of guarding our economy from unfair traders and undocumented immigrants, rather than joining together for the common good. We owe nothing to one another as citizens of the same society.

On Tuesday America will decide whether these ten ideas should be the guiding principles of the nation.

Storms, stars and ignorance

Sandy has really changed the focus of the 2012 Presidential Election and that's the way is should be when so many people are suffering.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/31/us/federal-aid-authorized-for-storm-victims-in-new-york-and-new-jersey.html?_r=0

I've read a few posts on Facebook and heard a few comments from the right side of the aisle.  Rumor has been floating from the right (very wrong) side claiming that Obama hasn't done right by the victims of Sandy.

It's obviously a political move to make people think that Obama is acting like Bush did in New Orleans.

NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of NYC, has endorsed Obama within the last few days.  Chris Christie, the gov of New Jersey, has said that Obama has been extremely involved in making sure the funds will be available.

MONEY is the key to helping rebuild the area and Federal funding is already being directed toward the devastated areas.

Last night on NBC a group of musicians and Jon Stewart and Jimmy Fallon reached out and asked for $10 from everybody.  The stars should have let us know what they were donating so that our $10 would seem trivial.  Their plea for help was simply to get people feeling good about doing something to help.

EACH ONE OF THOSE WORLD CLASS, AND VERY RICH MUSICIANS, COULD DONATE A MILLION DOLLARS EACH....AND PROBABLY DID....BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE NUMBERS.

IF ONE MILLION PEOPLE SENT $10 EACH THEN THAT'S 10 MILLION DOLLARS GOING TO THE RED CROSS.

10 MILLION PEOPLE=$100,000,000

The numbers I hear regarding damage adds up to $50 BILLION.

Total cost of this years presidential election....$6 BILLION.

BOTH PARTIES SHOULD BE ASHAMED AT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY BEING SPENT BUT THEN AGAIN WHAT PRICE CAN BE PUT ON SUPREME COURT SLOTS?

Four of the judges are in their 70's so the next president could get a big head's up regarding the future of America.

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE WAS FOR SUPREME COURT NOMINATIONS.  IT'S A CRAP SHOOT BUT EACH PARTY WANTS TO BE IN CONTROL WHEN THE SUPREME DUCKS START FALLING IN THE FEDERAL POND OF LAWS.

THE COURT'S RULING LAST YEAR THAT ALLOWED UNLIMITED CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS TO POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS HAS CHANGED THE PLAYING FIELD INTO A SUPER PAC HELL.

I think the current election atmosphere helped generate an additional level of chaos to Sandy's natural demeanor and although I can't prove, it I'm sure I'm right.

JUST LIKE THE CANDIDATES SEEM SO CONVINCED ABOUT THEIR POSITIONS.

TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY LEAD TO JOB GROWTH MIGHT BE THE BIGGEST CROOK OF SHIT I'VE EVER HEARD.

TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY LEAD TO MORE WEALTH.   PERIOD!

And by the way....how come neither party during the election talks about huge corporations not paying taxes?

GE PAID NO FEDERAL INCOME TAX IN 2011

NONE!

Both sides are in the pockets of huge corporations but one side seems to own most of those corporations so I'm going with the other side who just wants to give food, money and services to poor people and hungry children.

I read the other day that 90 million eligible voters won't vote.

SANDY has nothing to do with apathy and ignorance......and the fact that 90 million people won't vote is a much bigger problem than anything Sandy blew our way.

Borrowed from Citizens of ESA

Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics and we've
decided we're leaving.

We in New York intend to form our own country and we're taking the other
Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the
Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to
the people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:
You get Texas, Oklahoma and all Kansas-type states

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd
Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.

We get* Intel* and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard, MIT,Princeton, Penn, Haverford, Colgate, U of R)*,. You get
U of Texas

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.

You get Florida.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay
their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian
Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single
parents.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the
country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of
the nation's fresh fruit, *95% of America's quality wines* (you can serv
French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high
tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods,
sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Yale, Stanford, and Cal Tech

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americansand their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly

100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists,
virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University,
Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a
whale, 62% believe life at conception is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty
or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was
involved in 9/11, and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with
higher morals then we lefties.

So we're taking the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.

Sincerely,
Citizen of the Enlightened States of America
